AFLAC captured the top spot in the most recent survey of Intermedia Advertising Group’s top commercials for the weeks Dec. 23, 2002, to Jan. 5, 2003.
The winning spot features a man who is
hypnotized into thinking he is a chicken. Sears ads claimed two of the top spots:
- AFLAC, Amazing Kreskin makes hypnotized man think he is a chicken.
- Sears Home Appliances, refrigerators,
man asks if woman has her mind made up.
- Fancy Feast, fluffy white cat eats from crystal glass, good taste.
- Clairol Herbal Essence Shampoo, nurse in hospital room, man wakes up.
- DiGiorno
Cheese Stuffed Crust, man dances in underwear (0:15).
- Walt Disney World, girl with firefly thinks she has Tinkerbell.
- Pantene Pro V Daily Moisture Renewal, Kelly Ripa talks about split ends,
color and black and white.
- Post Grape Nuts, man can’t hear woman shout about a bear (0:15).
- Purina Meow Mix, people singing “Meow, Meow, Meow” song.
- Sears Treadmill, woman works out at 4
a.m.
In a survey about commercial likeability, IBM captured the top spot with its satirical board meeting commercial while Pepsi secured second place with an ad featuring a father and son
watching football. Other commercials inspired by the football playoffs – Miller, Budweiser and Michelob Light – were deemed highly likeable.
