Searches for gift cards this holiday season are up 14% from last year, according to new Hitwise data. Visa gift cards seem to be generating the most interest, with searches for them dominating the top
10 branded gift card search terms. For the week ending Dec. 15, "Visa gift cards" took the top spot, accounting for more than 7% of branded gift card searches--while phrases like "buy Visa gift cards"
and "free Visa gift cards" also made it into the top 10. "American Express gift cards" came in at second place with 2% of branded searches, while "MasterCard gift cards" took the ninth spot with only
0.64%. Wal-mart, iTunes, Target, BestBuy and Hess were the other brands that made it into the top 10.
