'Economist' To Launch Social Network

The Economist is reaching out to readers in a digital way. The U.K.-based magazine is creating a social network, part of its efforts to beef up its Web site. The magazine wants to develop a major portal for its readers and create what it calls "a conversation between them." Also, the pub--which has a strong U.S. readership--has launched its first online video.
