Mobile marketing will grow to over $24 billion worldwide in 2013 from just $1.8 billion in 2007, according to a new forecast by ABI Research.
The expansion will be driven by new ad-supported
platforms including mobile search, video and gaming. The report found that over the last year, advertisers have come to embrace mobile marketing as a key part of cross-media branding campaigns.
But ABI also warned that the nascent mobile market is still a "Wild West" environment that will take time to develop. Companies including Admob, Enpocket and Millennial Media were identified as
important new players in mobile advertising.
