Discovery Taps Lucas As CMO

Discovery Communications has tapped Wonya Lucas, formerly of the Weather Channel, as CMO. She will report to COO Mark Hollinger.

Lucas will oversee marketing across Discovery's worldwide fleet of cable channels.

Hollinger called Lucas "a recognized leader ... after successfully overseeing marketing and strategy for major television and Internet brands." Before the Weather Channel networks, where she rose to general manager and executive vice president, she held various positions at Turner.

She becomes the latest top executive to join Discovery as David Zaslav has taken over as CEO.

Lucas has also worked on the client side for Coke and Clorox.
