Court Denies Viacom's Request For Damages Against Google/YouTube

A federal district court judge has shot down Viacom's request to seek punitive damages against Google/YouTube in its copyright infringement lawsuit.
In a ruling issued Friday, Judge
Louis Stanton in New York held that punitive damages aren't available in copyright infringement cases. Viacom filed its $1 billion copyright infringement lawsuit against Google's YouTube last year.
