The conservative think tank Competitive Enterprise Institute issued a report Thursday advocating the repeal of a 2006 anti-gambling law that bans banks and credit card companies from processing online
gambling transactions.
"The Act is unlikely to stop Internet gambling and could even threaten the stable, smooth operation of America's banking system," said senior fellow Eli
Lehrer, who authored the institute's report, in a statement.
The House Committee on Financial Services is scheduled to hold a hearing about the act April 2.
