Comcast said that it was extending its cable amnesty program to the end of June. The program, which gives people who are receiving cable services the opportunity to turn themselves in without questions, began June 1. The cable amnesty program was scheduled to end June 15 but Comcast said an "overwhelming" response encouraged the company to continue it to June 30. The program is taking place in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties in Maryland, the District of Columbia, as well as Alexandria, Arlington, Reston and Prince William County in Virginia. Following the amnesty program, Comcast officials will conduct a house-by-house electronic audit of its cable systems to identify anyone still receiving unauthorized service. Once these homes and businesses are identified, the information will be turned over to law enforcement authorities for possible prosecution.
