Spencer Wang, the influential Wall Street analyst covering the entertainment and MSO/DBS sectors, is leaving Bear Stearns to join Credit Suisse in an expanded role.

The announcement--in an email sent out by Wang--comes after Bear Stearns sent out a memo over the weekend saying it is halting all analyst coverage across all sectors as the merger with JPMorgan Chase goes forward.

Wang said he received an offer to join JPMorgan, but has opted to join CS, where he will continue to cover his current portfolio, but also add oversight of the Internet arena. More officially, he will head the Media & Internet Equity Research practice.

He will begin in early August.

Bear Stearns also recently saw the departure of another well-respected analyst, Victor Miller, who covered the local broadcast business. Miller said his departure was unrelated to Bear Stearns' financial issues.
