Video Startup Jivox Attracts Funding And New Publishers

Jivox Web video startup Jivox has raised over $10 million in series A funding, the company is expected to announce today.

In March, San Mateo, Calif.-based Jivox launched a do-it-yourself platform for smallish businesses to create, target and deliver video ads online. Jivox also recently reached 40 million viewers in the Jivox Video Network.

"Jivox was founded on the premise that businesses are ready to move beyond banner ads and search advertising by adding online video ads," Jivox founder and CEO Diaz Nesamoney said. "But they need help tapping into this new medium."

For that, the Jivox platform providers advertisers with video ad creation tools, targeting technology, reporting capabilities, and a network of publishers.

In addition, the company has secured new publishers in its network, including WorldNow, ExpoTV and AOL India, while hundreds of small and local advertisers have signed up for the service.

Jivox has previously raised a $2.7 million seed round of financing led by Opus Capital, an early-stage venture capital firm. Nesamoney himself is contributing his own capital to finance Jivox.

Google recently entered the nascent video advertising market with its AdSense for Video platform, which gives advertisers the choice of running video or text ads on a small portion of a video viewer.
