Eleven state attorneys general announced an agreement with Anheuser-Busch Inc. that requires the company to discontinue production of all alcoholic energy drinks (AEDs), including its two current
brands--Tilt and Bud Extra.
The agreement comes in the wake of an extensive investigation by the attorneys general of Anheuser-Busch's marketing practices related to AEDs, which
they concluded violated state consumer production laws.
Their investigation of Miller Beer's Sparks brand continues.
Also on Thursday, Anheuser-Busch rejected the unsolicited, non-binding
proposal by InBev to acquire all outstanding shares of Anheuser-Busch for $65 per share, saying it is financially inadequate and not in the best interests of Anheuser-Busch shareholders.
