Yahoo7 To Revamp, Relaunch, Recharge

  • July 1, 2008
Yahoo7, Yahoo's joint venture with Seven Network in Australia, is set to add new features, new navigation and new branding in a push to reclaim lost search market share and gain more favor with advertisers.

The changes, which are slated to roll out on July 1, include bringing back the Yahoo Yodel in ads, revamping the portal home page to include more video and user customization, and adding more access to Seven's stable of magazines (under the Pacific Magazines division). The portal redesign also includes more suburb-specific info for users, and will be supported by a multichannel marketing push beginning July 8.

Insiders say the marketing push is designed with advertisers in mind, as dozens of CEOs and marketing directors from agencies across Australia have been invited to the portal's relaunch party.

Seven Network (a television station and division of Australia's Seven Media Group) partnered with Yahoo to launch the Yahoo7 portal in 2005.
