MySpace Jams With Rock The Vote On Voter Registration

  • July 2, 2008
MySpace is teaming up with Rock the Vote to launch a contest encouraging voter registration while helping to promote up-and-coming bands.

From now until Aug. 14, bands with profiles on MySpace can install a tool on their sites that allows people to register to vote. The first 25 bands to register at least 150 people will be featured in a custom Rock the Vote playlist on TouchTunes digital jukeboxes at thousand of locations (think bars) nationwide.

Fans on MySpace will choose the winner among the top three bands at registering voters. The "DemROCKracy" competition grand-prize winner will be the opening act at Rock the Vote's "Ballot Bash" concert at the Democratic National Convention in Denver on Aug. 25. They will also come away with some new Gibson guitars.
