Interactive TV presents opportunities for advertisers, marketers, retailers, interactive service providers, TV broadcasters, telecom companies, cable companies and many more. In advance of iTV, Jupiter predicts 32.2 million households in Europe will have digital television (DTV) in 2002.
Jupiter expects that this number will rise by roughly 53.8 million over the next four years to 86.0 million in 2006, when over one-half of European households will have DTV.

Jupiter also says that by 2007, 91% of European DTV households will use interactive services, such as video-on-demand (VOD) and personal video recorders (PVRs).
For an idea of how lucrative the DTV market in Europe will be, eMarketer's report, Interactive TV: Reality & Opportunity, presents data from the ARC Group. ARC estimates that revenues generated from digital TV in Western Europe will rise from $17.7 billion in 2002 to $72.2 billion in 2006.
