Shutterfly has rolled out Shutterfly Share Sites, a service that allows users to create free, photo-themed Web sites, complete with blogs and widgets. Some 55,000 individual sites have been created
since the Redwood City, Calif.-based photo-sharing and publishing company launched a beta test of the Share Sites at the start of the summer.
Users sign up for a Shutterfly account,
select a style or theme for their Share Site, and pick a name. The company takes that name and creates a unique URL and e-mail address for each project, so that friends and family members can
collaborate on its creation. Shutterfly members can upload pictures, captions, journal entries, and weather widgets to the Share Site, among other features.
Users can create up to 10 free Share
Sites, although Shutterfly also offers fee-based photo book creation and image printing. --Tameka Kee
