"West Wing" creator Aaron Sorkin is setting his sights on Facebook for an upcoming movie, according to the Los Angeles Times
. The Hollywood screenwriter has apparently started a Facebook group
that he's using as research for the film, which is being written for Sony Pictures and producer Scott Rudin.
Facebook, however, denied any affiliation with Sorkin's project. "We are
routinely approached by writers and filmmakers interested in telling the Facebook story or the stories of the more than 100 million people who use Facebook to share and make the world more open and
connected," a spokesperson said. "At this point, we have not agreed to cooperate with any film project, but we are flattered by the interest." Sony, meanwhile, confirmed that Sorkin was working on the
project, but declined to discuss details. His Facebook group page can be seen here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=33807262256.
An earlier version of the Facebook post said the movie
would be about "Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin and Dustin Moskovitz -- three sophmores (sic) at Harvard who, in order to meet girls, invented Facebook." So who's going to play Zuckerberg?
