The permanent migration of Facebook users to the social network's new site started this week and will take place over the next few weeks, according to a company spokesman.
Facebook
has continued to make changes to the new version of the site it unveiled in July based on member feedback. The upgrade has sparked a backlash from some users. A Facebook group called "Petition Against
the New Facebook" has grown to nearly 1 million users, as of Thursday.
In a post on the company blog Wednesday, Facebook Product Manager Mark Slee said 30 million people are now using the new
site. He also noted some of the continuing changes.
"Based on your feedback, we've simplified the top navigation," he wrote. "We also heard that people were confused about how to find their
applications, so we are moving the Applications menu to the menu bar at the bottom of every page. This will make it much easier to get to your favorite applications whenever you want." --Mark Walsh
