Looking to upgrade its
online offerings as traditional on-air revenues slow, station owner Belo has inked a deal to add lifestyle content from Noofangle Media to the Web sites affiliated with its stations. Belo operates 20
stations in 15 markets.
Under the multi-year agreement, Belo will be able to link with Noofangle's GreenRightNow.com and TVPuzzles.com, among others. Noofangle content, which
is updated daily, is now employed by 81 stations across the country. The company signed a deal this summer with the Nexstar station group.
"We recognize the importance of having a strong local
Internet presence and are looking for ways to grow our stations' Web sites," said Kathy Clements, Belo senior vice president/television operations.
Clements added that offering more "lifestyle
content will accelerate the ... ability to build a competitive advantage and attract a broader Web site audience."
With the national spot market stumbling and spending drying up in the auto
category, station groups are looking to their Web sites and mobile offerings as potential growth engines in a tough economy.
