"The Atlantic" has recruited
Wired's executive editor Bob Cohn for the newly created role of editorial director at TheAtlantic.com.
Reporting to Editor James Bennet and based
in Washington, Cohn will oversee the publishing brand's digital editorial efforts, including its blogs, Web-only dispatches, online delivery of magazine content and new initiatives.
During
October, TheAtlantic.com drew 36.8 million page views, 4.5 million unique visitors and 15.3 million sessions. Traffic was fueled by the commentary and analysis of The Atlantic's team of
bloggers, including Andrew Sullivan, Marc Ambinder, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Ross Douthat, and Megan McArdle.
Cohn served as executive editor of Wired since 2001, overseeing editorial aspects of
the magazine. During his tenure, Wired secured 10 National Magazine Award nominations, including two wins in the category of General Excellence. --Gavin O'Malley
