Yahoo's Most Searched Terms In 2008

"Britney Spears" was the most searched-for term on Yahoo in 2008. "WWE" (World Wrestling Entertainment came in No. 2, followed by "Barack Obama," "Miley Cyrus," "RuneScape," "Jessica Alba," "Naruto," "Lindsay Lohan," "Angelina Jolie" and "American Idol."

"Barack Obama" was the second-most searched-for person in 2008, and the first searched-for person in Yahoo's Top 10 Politician Searches. Headlines of his election victory received more clicks than any other story on yahoo.com this year, and he was the third-most-searched term overall.

As 2008 came to a close, the nation's economic turmoil battled with the presidential election for searches. "IRS Stimulus Checks" ranked No. 1 in the Top 10 Economic Searches, followed by "Oil Prices," "Gold Prices," and "Gas Prices."--Laurie Sullivan
