Hearst, MTV Networks Launch Virtual 'Seventeen'

Hearst Magazines Digital Media and MTV Networks Program Enterprises Group have launched the first virtual issue of Seventeen magazine, which ties together Seventeen's print edition and Seventeen.com with a program in MTV's virtual world.

Readers who pick up the print edition will be invited into a closed-beta, sneak peek into MTV's new virtual environment that does not require an application download, and will gain access to exclusive editorial and accessories in Virtual MTV's full-download application.

The December/January issue of Seventeen--now available on shelves and inside Virtual MTV--features promotion of the partnership and offers online and in-world access to exclusive editorial content linked through Seventeen.com, including stories on Seventeen's 2008 Style Stars, the guys of the movie Twilight and the annual Give Back Gift Guide.--Gavin O'Malley
