Report: LinkedIn Founder Reid Back As CEO

  • December 18, 2008
In a management shake-up, LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman is reclaiming his role as chief executive of the professional networking site, according to a TechCrunch report Wednesday. Hoffman replaces former Intuit executive Dan Nye, who became LinkedIn CEO in early 2007, and is expected to remain as an advisor after leaving the company in January.

TechCrunch also reported that former Yahoo exec Jeff Weiner will join LinkedIn as interim president. Weiner is currently an executive-in-residence for venture capital firms Accel Partners and Greylock Partners. He left Yahoo last summer after serving as executive vice president of the Web portal's network division.

The moves follow the hiring last week of Deep Nishar, Google's Asia-Pacific director of product management, to become LinkedIn's vice president of product strategy.

Fast-growing LinkedIn has raised $103 million to date and has 11.2 million monthly visitors, according to comScore. The company has not disclosed its revenues.--Mark Walsh
