Dublin-based WPP, the parent of Mindshare, Mediaedge:cia, MediaCom Worldwide, and a variety of agencies and marketing research operations, will cut "several thousand" jobs worldwide, according to
reports in the U.K. press over the weekend. British papers speculated that most of the cuts would come from North America and Western Europe, and that WPP might actually increase its organization in
South America, Eastern Europe and Asia. According to
The Guardian, WPP currently has a global workforce of more than 100,000, and that cuts would occur in operations where staff costs surpass
60% of revenues.
