Nielsen Online released November U.S. search share rankings Monday. U.S. consumers continued to use search engines to find information online. Total search queries rose to nearly 8.1 billion in
November 2008, up 9.6% from the year-ago month. Google Search jumped nearly 22% to 5.2 billion, representing 64.1% of all search queries conducted during that month.
AOL Search and
Comcast Search also took year-on-year market share--3.6% to 344 million, and 3.5% to nearly 41%, respectively. The news wasn't as good for Yahoo and Microsoft. Yahoo Search's market share fell 1.4% to
1.3 billion searches with 16.1% market share, and MSN/Windows Live Search dropped 16.7% to 733 million with 9.1% market share of searches. --Laurie Sullivan
