New Yahoo CEO Bartz To Get $19 Million-Plus

  • January 16, 2009
Yahoo will pay new CEO Carol Bartz a $1 million annual salary and award her $18 million more in cash and stock in 2009. The details of her pay package were disclosed in a regulatory filing Thursday.

Bartz will also get 5 million stock options that could significantly boost her compensation if the company's depressed share price rebounds under her leadership.

The former Autodesk chief executive was hired by Yahoo this week to succeed co-founder Jerry Yang as CEO. The largest portion of her compensation will be $10 million in cash and restricted stock to cover benefits and stock options she is giving up from Autodesk. She is also scheduled to get an $8 million stock grant in February.

Bartz is further eligible under her four-year employment agreement to receive an annual performance bonus with a target amount of 200% of her base salary and a maximum of twice the target figure.--Mark Walsh
