A Kentucky appeals court on Tuesday reversed a decision ordering the forfeiture of domain names of more than 140 gambling sites.
The court agreed with lawyers for the gaming industry,
who argued that Kentucky's forfeiture law does not apply to domain names because they are not
gambling "devices" such as roulette wheels or slot machines.
The case had drawn the attention of public interest groups including the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Center for Democracy &
Technology, and ACLU, which argued that seizing domain names of the gambling sites was unconstitutional.--Wendy Davis
