Todayshow.com, iVillage Partner For Anti-Smoking Effort

  • January 29, 2009
In recognition of February being National Heart Healthy Month, "Today," NBC News' chief medical editor Nancy Snyderman, iVillage and TodayShow.com are coming together for a multi-platform anti-smoking and awareness campaign.

"Today" will feature Dr. Snyderman in four special on-air segments as the kick-off for a new ongoing series of segments called "Today Calls It Quits." One of the segments will feature the American Legacy Foundation, and explore its disturbing findings about smoking in the U.S. and worldwide.

Continuing the discussion about the health effects of smoking and how to effectively quit, in addition to showcasing streaming video clips of the "Today Calls It Quits" segments, TodayShow.com will partner with iVillage to ask Americans to send in their questions about smoking and kicking the habit.

Dr. Snyderman and five BeWell.com experts, including noted breast cancer surgeon Susan Love and mind-body and fertility expert Alice Domar, will answer questions and offer support on the iVillage community "Kick Butt" message board.

In addition, in-depth articles about how to quit will be available at the iVillage "Kick Butt: Quit Smoking for Good" health corner.--Gavin O'Malley
