If Saturday's malware mishap that labeled every link in the search query with a warning wasn't bad enough, the Google News server went down just as the Pittsburgh Steelers won the Super Bowl
championship, beating the Arizona Cardinals in Florida Sunday night.
The glitch repeatedly returned a 502 server error message for about 30 minutes nearly each time someone tried to
launch the news search engine.
A Google spokesperson acknowledged the outage, but declined to provide the reason or the cause. "Yesterday, between approximately 7:30 p.m. PST and 8 p.m. PST,
many users experienced difficulty accessing Google News," said a Google spokesperson. "This issue has now been resolved. We know how important Google News is to our users, so we take issues like this
very seriously, and we apologize to those users who were affected." --Laurie Sullivan
