  • ROB SORCHER has been named senior vice president for programming and production at AMC. His responsibilities will include development, production and scheduling of original shows. Sorcher will report to Noreen O'Loughlin, executive vice president/general manager of AMC.

  • OTAVIO BOCCHINO is joining Universal McCann as Executive Vice President, Regional Director of Latin America/Caribbean region. In this role, Bocchino, who assumes his post effective mid-June, will be responsible for managing UM’s media product, ensuring the quality of client servicing and new business development.

  • Cumulus Media announced that JIM WEST has been named Operations Manager of its Beaumont, TX cluster, replacing Lou Bennett who exits. West was upped from KAYD-FM Beaumont PD.

  • SEAN M. SMITH has been appointed the new West Coast editor of Premiere. Previously a senior writer, Smith will head up the Los Angeles bureau and report to editor-in-chief Peter Herbst. He will replace Anne Thompson, a seven-year veteran of the title, who is leaving to spend more time with her family. Smith has been with Premiere since 1997.

  • People has named CECE RYAN as head of ad sales for the Eastern U.S. Ryan joined People in 1996 as an account manager. Christine Guilfoyle and Michelle Bosso have been named two of People’s three New York division ad sales managers. Guilfoyle comes from TV Guide, where she was the director of advertising for the Eastern U.S. Bosso joined the magazine in 1996 as an account manager.

  • RICHARD J. O'RORKE has been named Chief Financial Officer of the Magazine Publishers of America. O'Rorke was CFO at the Financial Times from 1998 until last year, and has since been working at his own financial firm.

  • People en Espanol has named a trio of new executives: DIANE MALLOY, former New York regional manager for People Weekly, becomes national advertising sales director for the Spanish-language title. JOSE PEREZ, a veteran of Sports Illustrated and Time International, where he worked on new business development, is People en Espanol's new consumer marketing director. Perez founded his own consulting firm, Brand Builders, in 1998. LAUREN KUSCHNER has been named public relations director. She previously served as vice president of media relations at Bratskeir & Co.

  • JEANNE SACHS of Rosie Magazine has been named associate publisher under publisher Joan Sheridan. Sachs, whose prior title was national sales director, came over from the Magazine Consultancy back in February, where as a group publisher she oversaw sales for Twist, J-14 and M magazines. Before that she headed ad sales at Bolt, the popular kids web site.

  • MICHELLE A. MEYERCORD has been named director of international magazine development at Rodale, reporting to COO Steve Kalin. Meyercord succeeds Mary Ann Bekkedahl, who was named publisher of Men's Health back in December. She was the former director of Primedia International.

  • SHELAGH DALY MILLER has been promoted to advertising director for all AARP publications. Previously an advertising sales manager, Miller will now handle all ad sales for AARP Modern Maturity, AARP Bulletin, and My Generation. Miller came to AARP from Sesame Street Parents Magazine, where she was national sales manager.

  • RACHEL MIZUNO rises from manager of affiliate marketing for Columbia TriStar, a position she has held for three years, to director of the department. She’ll provide marketing support to local TV stations for the company’s programming, as well as play a role in national media planning, Rachel will also be involved with the national media planning for CTDT.

  • Fox Broadcasting Co. has finally found a new head of marketing, hiring HBO marketing executive ROBERTA MELL to fill the position.

  • DAVID B. CHEMIDLIN has been named senior vice president and general manager of Advance Magazine Publishers, Inc.’s Shared Service Center. The Center will be located in Wilmington, Del., and is scheduled to be running in 2003. Chemidlin will lead the launch team and oversee the shared service functions of AMPI’s divisions, which include Condé Nast publications.

  • JANE GRENIER has been appointed the new associate publisher for marketing of Teen Vogue. Currently an Associate Publisher at Gourmet, Grenier will oversee promotion and marketing for the title, which launches with a Feb/March issue in 2003. Grenier previously worked as promotion director for Vogue from 1989 to 1994.

  • ISABEL MILLER has been named SVP for marketing for AMC, part of the Rainbow Media network. Miller is now in charge of AMC's consumer and marketing efforts and the development of promotional packages. She will report to Noreen O'Loughling, EVP/GM of the network

  • PAUL VAN DE KAMP was promoted to Vice President Business Development at ANIMAX Interactive. Prior to the promotion, he had been Sr. Director Sales of Overture, Inc. where he managed the outside sales team. He also spearheaded sponsorship and commerce programs at ESPN Internet Ventures.

  • KATHLEEN MAITINO has been named Vice President/ Manager at Katz Radio in Boston. Maitino joined Katz Radio in 1998 as a Senior Account Executive. In 1999, she was promoted to Manager of the Boston office. Maitino also worked as a Manager for Amcast Radio from 1997 to 1998.

  • STACEY LIPPMAN has been appointed to the post of Senior Vice President, Managing Director, CARAT New York. Lippman was formerly President/Corporate Sales and Marketing of emap/Petersen USA
