  • ROBERT SHERMAN, the head of advertising sales at the AOL division of AOL Time Warner, resigned to spend time with his family and pursue other jobs. Sherman joined AOL Time Warner in March 2001 to organize company wide advertising sales across its many divisions, including AOL, the Time magazines and the Turner Broadcasting cable stations. LISA BROWN has been named Sherman's successor, overseeing advertising sales for the company. Brown joined America Online in November 2002 as executive vice president of the newly created marketing strategy and solutions group. Prior to November, Brown was president and chief executive of USA Interactive's (USAI) USA electronic commerce solutions division.

  • Draft has hired LISA PENELTON as senior vice president of analytic services, where she will focus on integrating data, statistical modeling, and economic analysis into the marketing process for the company. Penelton returns to Draft after more than a year at GreySTAR, where she directed data strategy for BellSouth, Xerox and United Airlines since 2002. Prior to GreySTAR, Penelton was VP, director of analytic services at Draft from 1998 until 2002.

  • Horizon Media announced that CARMEN BURGESS has joined the agency as a senior buyer in the Los Angeles office. Burgess joins Horizon from Carat where she was most recently a senior buyer for the local broadcast markets. Her duties included negotiating TV, radio and cable time in several top 10 markets for clients like Jack in the Box, Quizno’s, Hyundai/Kia, Coors, Hardee’s and Pfizer. Prior to joining Carat, Burgess was a senior buyer at Focus Media.

  • Schadler Kramer Group Advertising announced the appointment of RON SNYDER to managing director for the agency. Snyder will oversee operations and lead the agency’s new business development practice. Previously Snyder was managing director of Siegelgale, where he was responsible for establishing and growing its presence in the Bay Area and Silicon Valley.

  • PETER BLACKLOW, the former senior vice president of marketing at Monster, has joined WorldWinner as their chief marketing officer. Blacklow will lead all marketing efforts for the company and build an identifiable brand, ensure a profitable consumer life cycle, maintain consistency across consumer touch points and manage key distribution relationships. Prior to Monster, Blacklow served as director of marketing for Converse.

  • MARTY YUDKOVITZ has joined TiVo as its new president. Previously, Yudkovitz headed up NBC's interactive and digital TV units. In his new post, Yudkovitz will be responsible for driving the deployment of TiVo through satellite, cable and advertising partnerships. He will also focus on helping TV and other content creators develop new revenue opportunities on TiVo's digital video recorder platform.

  • ANDREA ALSTRUP, Corporate Vice President, Advertising, Johnson & Johnson, has been elected to Chair, The Advertising Council. A board member since 1995, Alstrup has served as Vice Chairman of the Ad Council since June of 2000. As Chair, she succeeds DAVID BELL, Chairman & CEO, The Interpublic Group of Companies, Inc. and will serve in the position for one year.

  • RICK KRISBURG, formerly of Clear Channel Communications and the DiamondGroup has launched Triangulate, a New York City-based Promotion and Marketing Services agency.

  • TONIE HANSEN is the new Director of Marketing for Mailblocks, a new spam-free, web-based email service. Prior to Mailblocks, Hansen was Director, Marketing for Excite@Home's media division.

  • ELIZABETH CROW, executive vp and editorial director of Primedia's consumer magazine group, has left the company after 10 months on the job. Crow previously worked at Rodale as vp/editorial director of their Women's Health Group.

  • KDOC-TV has announced the appointment of TOM JIMENEZ as General Sales Manager. Jimenez has extensive sales and general management experience and previously led several stations from start up to success.

  • PETER KOSANN has been promoted to President of Sales for Westwood One. In his expanded role, Kosann will direct all aspects relating to radio Ad Sales for Metro Networks and continue to oversee Sales for the Westwood One network and syndicated programming division as well as Affiliate Sales. Kosann joined Westwood One in May 1999 as Senior Vice President, Affiliate Sales, and was the Worldwide Manager for Media Distribution at Bloomberg LP prior to joining Westwood.

  • ETIENNE KATZ has been appointed New York sales representative for Business 2.0. In addition, CRAIG JOHNSON has been appointed Southeast sales manager in Atlanta, and KELLY BERES, previously in the magazine’s New York office, will relocate to the West Coast as the new Los Angeles sales representative. Katz most recently served as the associate publisher of the Eastern region at Red Herring. Prior to Red Herring, Katz worked at Ziff-Davis, where he held several ad sales and management positions.

  • STEVE SLON has been appointed editor of AARP The Magazine. Slon, served as deputy editor since November 2000, and was editor in chief of Success magazine before joining AARP. Also at AARP, TRACI L. LUCIEN has been named Production Director for AARP Publications. Lucien will direct the manufacturing and distribution of AARP The Magazine, AARP Bulletin, NRTA Live & Learn and Segunda Juventud. She will also manage all relationships with outside vendors including print, paper and pre-press suppliers. Lucien will replace JOHN CONDIT who was recently promoted to Publications’ General Manager.

  • KATE BETTS, formerly editor in chief of Harper's Bazaar, has been named editor of the biannual Time Style & Design.

  • MICHAEL REAGAN has joined Sales and Marketing Management magazine as Regional Manager. Reagan is responsible for all print and online sales in the Western Region of the U.S. Reagan previously worked for The New York Times, Men's Journal, Business 2.0 and Inc Magazine.

  • Rodale has announced that ASEEM CHHABRA has been named Advertising General Manager of Organic Style and Organic Gardening magazines. Chhabra will manage overall ad revenue and expense accounting for the two magazines. He will also be responsible for strategic planning and financial forecast monitoring. Chhabra spent the last two years as a consultant in the publishing industry. Prior to that, he was the Director of Finance for Architectural Digest at Condé Nast.

  • MIKE ROSE has been named Vice President, Sales Manager for the Clear Channel Radio Sales Emerald Team in Los Angeles. Rose began his career as a Senior Account Executive with McGavren Guild Radio in 1995. In 1998 he became Sales Manager with MG/Susquehanna and in 2000 Rose joined RadioWave.com as Regional Sales Manager. In 2001, he joined Clear Channel Traffic as a Senior Account Executive, his most recent position.
