  • America Online has promoted KEVIN CONROY to executive vice president and chief operating officer of the company's broadband service. In this new post, Conroy will manage all aspects of AOL's broadband service. Conroy joined the company in January 2001 to head up AOL Music.

  • MSNBC.com announced that CHARLES TILLINGHAST has been named Vice President of Sales & Business Development. In this role, Tillinghast will lead advertising sales efforts, including cross-media sales and development of new revenue channels. He will also manage MSNBC.com's content and distribution partnerships, which currently include Reuters, Financial Times, Newsweek and the Washington Post.

  • McCann-Erickson San Francisco (McCannSF) and MRM Gould, San Francisco, both part of the McCann-Erickson WorldGroup, jointly announced the formation of an integrated business development group. The group will be led by BRIAN POWLEY as Director of Business Development. In this new position, Powley will explore integrated new business opportunities on behalf of both McCannSF and MRM Gould. Powley's most recent post was as Executive Vice President, Business Development, for H Corporation, San Francisco, where he developed agency partner agreements, selling H's software product suite to DDB, Oglivy, JWT, Carat and others.

  • GUNNAR WILMOT, most recently SVP, Planning and Business Development at Interpublic Group, is joining the Lowe Plus Draft management team as chief operating officer As COO of Lowe Plus Draft, Wilmot will identify operating efficiencies and opportunities, and help lead management and growth initiatives currently underway.

  • Mezzina Brown & Partners announced today that MARK MORRISSEY has been promoted to chief executive officer of the agency. Morrissey was formerly chief operating officer of the company. Morrissey joined Mezzina Brown & Partners from Young & Rubicam, where he was vice president, account services. Morrissey oversaw such blue-chip brands as AT&T, Manufacturers Hanover (now JP Morgan Chase) and RJR Nabisco.

  • MPG (Media Planning Group), Havas’ media agency has named CYNTHIA MACHATA as svp, group account director. Machata will be responsible for leading an account team. Prior to joining MPG, Machata worked for 12 years for the MediaEdge:cia/Young & Rubicam in the San Francisco office as svp, group media director. Machata also held positions at Grey Advertising, Lintas and Wells, Rich & Greene. At MPG Media Contacts, JENNIFER BERGHOLT has been named an online media supervisor for the San Francisco office. Before joining MPG, Jennifer worked as a media planner for i-traffic.

  • JOEL HOLLANDER, president and CEO of Westwood One, was promoted to chief operating officer of Infinity Broadcasting. In his new role, Hollander will oversee the day-to-day operations of Infinity's 183 radio stations in the nation's top markets. Hollander replaces JOHN FULLAM, who resigned in April after less than a year on the job.

  • Space Holdings, a multimedia company dedicated to space, science and technology, announced the hiring of three senior executives and the promotion of one. Joining the company are THOM ACKERMAN MASLOW (left) as vice president and general manager of the Consumer Products and Experiences division; BARBARA SHORNICK (right) as vice president, marketing and GARY STRAUSS as national sales director, Space.com. MONIKA CORNELL was promoted to vice president, global advertising sales for Space News, a trade publication published by Space Holdings, from director, advertising sales. Maslow previously worked at Mattel Interactive’s Learning Division, where he oversaw all business functions including product development, marketing, finance, sales and operations. Shornick joins the company from Bravo Networks, where she was vice president, consumer marketing. Strauss was formerly a senior account manager at Lycos.

  • BARBARA SCHERER has joined PUSH, a full-service advertising agency, as Director of Strategic Planning. In this role, Scherer serves as a member of the agency's senior management team and oversees the business development, research and account planning, and public relations departments.

  • Alloy Marketing & Promotions (AMP) has hired MATT MCROBERTS as Director of Sales. McRoberts comes to Alloy from Monster, where he held the position of Senior Product Marketing Manager and was responsible for the launch of Monster Campus, a student focused sales and marketing channel. Prior to that, he was Director of College Sales and Marketing at Steamtunnels, a college magazine insert

  • RYAN SMITH has joined the creative team at Arnold Worldwide-St. Louis as Art Director, to work on advertising for Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey and other consumer brands. Smith previously worked at D'Arcy, Masius, Benton & Bowles (DDBB) and then Rogers Townsend in St. Louis, gaining national and international recognition for clients such as Whiskas cat food and Circus Flora.

  • Primedia announced that STEVEN ROUSSEAU has been promoted to Regional Vice President and Managing Director for Advertising Sales for the company's Detroit region In this new position, Rousseau will focus on expanding advertising sales and marketing opportunities across Primedia's range of magazine and media properties within the Detroit marketplace. Rousseau will continue to maintain his current responsibilities as Group Advertising Director for Motor Trend and Automobile Magazine.

  • PAOLA VECCHIOLLA has joined Tacoda Systems as Strategic Accounts Manager. Vecchiolla will introduce the company's flagship Audience Management System to media, entertainment and financial companies. Vecchiolla comes to Tacoda from Groove Networks, where from March 2001 to March 2003, she was a Senior Account Executive.

  • Quris has appointed ALICIA SMITH KRIESE to the company's Board of Directors. Smith Kriese is senior vice president and group account director of GSD&M and member of the advertising agency 's Executive Leadership Team.
