  • SEAN B. CUNNINGHAM, Executive Vice President/Managing Director of Universal McCann/New York, has been named President & CEO of the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau. He will assume his new post in mid-June and succeeds JOE OSTROW, who is retiring and will become a consultant to the organization. Cunningham has been in his present position at Universal McCann, since 2000. He has been responsible for the New York office, which has $6 billion in billings and a 165-person media planning/buying staff.

  • MONICA LYONS has joined O'Leary and Partners as broadcast buying supervisor. Lyons was previously with Doner for five years, where she supervised the broadcast activity on the Robinson-May account, as well as personally buying broadcast schedules for a variety of clients, including Mazda, La-Z-Boy, Ontario Mills and PacifCare. Prior to that, she was with FCB (Irvine) working on Mazda for more than 10 years.

  • WestWayne announced that JUDY POPKY, has been promoted from Vice President, Associate Media Director to Vice President, Media Director. Popky has worked for WestWayne the last three years managing business for Russell Athletic, SunTrust, Florida's Natural Growers, the Atlanta Falcons, BellSouth, and others.

  • JIM KERR has joined Sigma Group, a full-service advertising agency, as group manager, banking and financial services. In this position, Kerr will manage new business development and account management for Sigma's banking and financial services accounts. Before joining Sigma Group, Kerr was senior vice president and director of marketing at EAB (European American Bank). Before EAB, he was vice president and director of marketing for First Investors Corporation, where he was responsible for the development of all sales and marketing materials, managing the wholesale funds sales efforts, and launching new mutual fund products.

  • Hill, Holliday has announced the appointment of CARRIE CRAIGMYLE as VP Group Account Director in the agency's San Francisco office. Craigmyle was most recently a freelance Account Director at Wunderman, San Francisco, where she helped launch a direct response print campaign for MSNTV and managed day-to-day integrated marketing programs for Seagate. Prior to this, Craigmyle was VP Global Account Director at GREY Direct, San Francisco, managing all aspects of relationship marketing for all Adobe products, as well as overseeing a global account team on integrated marketing for Oracle Corporation.

  • KATHY CRAWFORD, formerly executive vice president, director of local broadcast at Initiative Media, has joined MindShare as president of local broadcast. Crawford replaces JEAN POOL, who left last year to join Interpublic Group's Universal McCann.

  • CYNDI APRIL, director of print strategy for OMD USA, has left the company. April was responsible for overseeing the print operations of OMD'S Chicago, Los Angeles and New York offices. Prior to working at OMD, she was senior vp, group media director at BBDO Worldwide.

  • The American Advertising Federation (AAF) has named CARLA MICHELOTTI executive vice president /general counsel, Leo Burnett Worldwide, AAF chairman and JACK GRIFFIN, president and publisher of Parade magazine, will serve as AAF vice chair. Michelotti succeeds MARK DACEY, senior client partner, media & entertainment sector of Korn/Ferry International.

  • Mediaedge:cia, the global media services specialists, announced that CHARLES COURTIER, Executive Chairman Worldwide, assumes the responsibility of overseeing all the Agency's operations across the U.S. and Canada in addition to his role as Executive Chairman Worldwide for the company. This follows the decision of STEVE LANZANO, CEO North America, to return to client management. Lanzano is staying in the WPP Group, assuming the role of Worldwide Media Services Director at MindShare, running the American Express business globally.

  • Blast Radius, a global Internet solutions company, has hired DAN KEMPKA, formerly vice president of business development and marketing at Genex, to oversee its Los Angeles operations. Kempka will oversee the 10-person office and will lead the client development team.

  • Turner Group, Inc. (TGI) announced today the appointment of WENDY BOROW-JOHNSON to the position of Senior Vice President of it's network group, iTV Networks. Previously, Borow-Johnson was the President and CEO of RnetHealth and was the President and CEO of Recovery Television Network. Prior to that, Borow-Johnson was Senior Vice President of McCann Consumer Healthcare where she launched numerous branding and direct marketing campaigns for healthcare, biotechnology, and consumer packaged good companies. Prior to joining McCann, she was Senior Vice President of Medicus/DMBB and President of Com-Med Interactive.

  • RICK RODRIGUEZ, vice president of content for Discovery Networks international, has been named executive vp of Travel Channel, replacing STEVE CHESKIN, who resigned earlier this month. In his new post Rodriguez will oversee program development, production and operations for Travel Channel.

  • LAURA JOHNSTON has joined Zipatoni as Executive Creative Director for the company's Chicago office. During the past seven years, Johnston was a creative leader at UPSHOT Marketing. Most recently, she was Vice President and Creative Director, working on the Procter & Gamble account. While at UPSHOT, Johnston worked on the Absolut Vodka, Anheuser-Busch, Coca-Cola, Ford Motor Company, Mirage Resorts, Seagram’s, and Wrangler accounts.

  • Epsilon, a provider of relationship marketing services, appointed DENNIS DRISCOLL as vice president and general manager in the Boston office. Driscoll's duties at Epsilon will include leading account teams, strategic planning and developing customer-oriented marketing initiatives.

  • Marketplace Media Group a full-service advertising agency, has hired BOB LAIRD as Senior Account Executive. In this new position, Laird will focus on expanding Marketplace's existing client base. Laird previously worked at Landon Media Group in Chicago and prior to that at USA Networks in both Chicago and New York.

  • Gorilla Nation Media has hired BRAD AGENS as their National Sales Director. He will focus on building additional verticals, such as automotives and travel. Agens joined Gorilla Nation Media from MaxWorldwide/L90 where he spent three years as the Strategic Account Manager in Los Angeles, building up an extensive portfolio of clients such as Ford Motor Company, Nestle, Vivendi/Universal and ConAgra.
