  • Nelson Communications has promoted four-year employee MARYLIN GUZMAN to media planner from assistant media planner. In her new role, Guzman is responsible for media planning for all divisions of the agency including Nelson Communications, New York; Nelson Communications, New Jersey; and Sciens Worldwide.

  • EarthQuake Media announced that JEFF GIACCHETTI has joined the firm as account services executive. In this newly-created position, Giacchetti will spearhead EarthQuake’s new-business initiative and account management activity in the sports category. Giacchetti joins EarthQuake from VNU Business Marketing, where he developed and managed advertising and marketing campaigns for accounts such as Reebok, Benetton, Skechers, Major League Baseball and the National Football League. Before joining VNU in 1998, Giacchetti was an account executive/media buyer for TAM Communications.

  • Cartoon Network sales executives JOHN O’HARA (left) and JOE HOGAN (right) have been promoted to senior vice president of sales and marketing and vice president/national sales manager, respectively. O’Hara will continue to oversee the daily management and strategic business development of Cartoon Network/Kids’ WB! New York sales office. O’Hara will also direct the management of national inventory and sales guidelines for Cartoon Network. Hogan is now responsible for overseeing the daily management of Cartoon Network/Kids’ WB! sales offices, including Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago and Los Angeles. He will continue to be responsible for TBS Superstation and TNT sales operations throughout the Midwest region.

  • Also, at Turner, BARRY FISCHER has been named executive vice president of market strategy for TBS Inc. Fischer's new position broadens Fischer’s executive role to include collaboration and consultation on key industry competitive intelligence initiatives, Upfront advertising sales market strategy and ad sales support systems and operations.

  • UNreal Marketing Solutions has added MICHELE LOMBARDI and MICHAEL TABASSO to the company. Before joining UNreal Marketing as an account manager, Lombardi was an associate account executive at Euro RSCG Devon Direct. She worked on accounts such as Nextel Communications and Amgen. Tabasso joins the team as director of new business development and previously worked for GSI Commerce, Inc. as an online business manager. Some of his clients included Reebok, Fogdog and Rawlings.

  • Alloy Marketing & Promotions (AMP) has hired ANDY MAERCKLEIN as senior vice president, marketing and promotions, AMP. Maercklein comes to AMP from Arnold Worldwide, where he held the position of vice president, management supervisor, and handled the Monster.com and Honeywell accounts.

  • PointRoll, a rich media company and maker of the FatBoy expanding banners, has named CHRISSY PIOTTI and MARK LEIGHTON as campaign coordinators. Leighton joins the company from Euro RSCG where he was a producer working with such clients as Nextel, VeriSign and Volvo.

  • Zipatoni has made some promotions within the company. KAREN SAUDER moves from vice president, account director for Miller Brewing Company, to executive vice president, account director for Miller, and MARK MISELNICKY and SUSAN CHENOT have been promoted from senior creative directors to vice president, senior creative directors.

  • Global brand communications group ATTIK has appointed LISA CLEFF to the position of vice president of business development and marketing. Cleff departed ATTIK in 2001 to serve as director of sales and marketing for R!OT Manhattan before joining creative studio GOODSPOT in Santa Monica last year as vice president of sales and marketing.

  • FRANK P. GRASSO has been named vice president, newspaper relations for the Newspaper National Network. Grasso returns to NNN after spending three years at Mediaspace Solutions, where he was director of newspaper relations. There, Grasso oversaw newspaper relations, rate negotiations, and ad placement. He was director of newspaper relations from 1999 to 2000 at NNN.
