  • ZenithOptimedia Group chief executive officer JOHN PERRISS will leave the company after a replacement has been installed and a transition process completed. Perriss entered the advertising industry in 1968 as a media assistant, and joined Saatchi & Saatchi in 1975. Following Publicis Groupe's acquisition of a 50% stake in Zenith Media in 2000, Zenith and Optimedia were brought together under single management led by Perriss in 2001 before being merged into a single media network in 2003.

  • Carat Interactive has named ROBERT BALMASEDA VP of Internet Services. Balmaseda will lead the Internet Development Practice unit. Prior to joining Carat Interactive, he served as VP of Internet Technology at iGeneration (formerly USWeb Learning).

  • Strata-Media, Inc., a branding, advertising and business development agency, has appointed ANDY ARANYI to the position of vice president of business development and account strategist and AMANDA WEST as a new client services manager. Aranyi will focus on developing new business opportunities in the financial and healthcare industries, planning marketing programs, and developing strategy and tactics for clientele. West will be working with Strata clients Kerr Dental Group and Gateways to Better Education. Her main responsibilities will include client support and managing the execution of marketing strategies and tactics.

  • Forbes.com has named ANNE TOAL regional sales manager in the New York office, with responsibility for accounts in the New York City metropolitan area. Toal was most recently Internet account manager at the MIT Technology Review. Prior to that, she was regional sales manager at Business 2.0.

  • IAG, the TV ad effectiveness ratings company, announced that BARBARA ZACK has joined the company as managing director, chief strategic officer. Zack will oversee the development of IAG's research and data products. Before joining IAG, Zack was executive vice president, director of communication insights for PHD USA. While there, she developed a proprietary suite of planning tools for PHD.

  • interTrend Communications, Inc., a full-service advertising agency, has promoted QINGQING "JENNY" WANG to media planner/buyer from media assistant. Wang joined interTrend Communications in June 2002. She is responsible for planning and presenting media plans to clients; supervising new media staff members and overseeing media buying projects. In addition, the agency has added JAIDEEP "JAY" NAGARAJ and STARR YANG to its staff as an account manager and assistant account executive, respectively.

  • Advertising.com, Inc. has promoted WILLIAM H. MASTERSON to the role of vice president of agency relations. Masterson previously served as Advertising.com’s regional sales manager in the company’s New York office. In his new position, he will be responsible for overseeing strategies and developing new product offerings for Advertising.com’s U.S. agency partners. Additionally, MARK EVANS joined the company as an account executive. Evans comes to Advertising.com having spent the past six years working with CBSSportsline.com in a number of sales roles.

  • Nationalgeographic.com has hired TED RYAN as vice president of advertising sales. Ryan joins Nationalgeographic.com from The Motley Fool, where he served as vice president of sales. His career has also included sales roles at America Online, Reuters, Excite@Home and Capital Cities/ABC Inc.

  • LAMAR GRAHAM has been named general manager of PARADE Publications. Graham, who was formerly managing editor of PARADE, will collaborate on all aspects of the company. Graham joined PARADE in 2000 as contributing editor of technology and author of PARADE's "Inside.com" column. He was named managing editor in 2001.

  • The Independent Film Channel (IFC) announced that ROBERT DAVIS has joined the network as vice president-technology & production, IFC Digital Media and World Picks. He will oversee both long-term planning as well as day-to-day management of operations relative to cross-platform content production, transmission and distribution. Before joining IFC, Davis was a consultant for Gartner, Inc.

  • DEREK MEDINA has been promoted to vice president, news planning and business affairs, for ABC News. Medina’s responsibilities will include negotiating talent, production and acquisition agreements for ABC News and managing the business affairs budget. Medina joined ABC News in 1998 as the director of business affairs. In 2000 he was named executive director of business development, his most recent position.

  • PowerOne Media LLC, a provider of online newspaper solutions, has appointed LORREN ELKINS as chief executive officer. Elkins comes to PowerOne Media having spent more than 23 years in the publishing industry. After college, Elkins spent 17 years at The New York Times. While there, Elkins worked in both the flagship paper as well as the regional newspaper group. He served in a variety of positions including stints in circulation, marketing, planning, advertising, and technology.

  • WILLIAM P. HOGUE has been named marketing director of Time4 Media’s Marine Group, which includes Yachting, MotorBoating and Salt Water Sportsman magazines. In his new position, Hogue is charged with overseeing all aspects of marketing across the three Marine Group titles, including research, branding promotions and added-value programs for advertisers, as well as pioneering the group’s expansion into events. Hogue comes to Time4 Media from U.S. News and World Report where he served as vice president, marketing services. Prior to that, he was vice president of marketing for the Magazine Publishers of America.

  • Clear Channel Entertainment has named JOE HICKEY as vice president, national sales & marketing, based in Washington, DC. Hickey will focus on selling naming rights to Clear Channel owned and/or operated theatrical and music venues. Hickey has spent the last six years with NFL clubs, most recently serving as director of business development for the Arizona Cardinals. In that position, he was responsible for sponsorship and suite sales, as well as the development and sale of other promotional rights and team inventory.

  • Paul Schultz Advertising (PSA) announced the appointment of SARAH JACKSON as account coordinator. Jackson will assist on accounts including Clark Memorial Hospital, Jewish Hospital, and the Regional Airport Authority. Jackson joins PSA from Nobel and Associates in Springfield, MO, where she worked on foodservice clients including M&M Mars, Uncle Ben’s, Smucker’s, Red Hot and French’s.
