  • Starcom MediaVest Group has named PATRICK WALSHE as chief executive officer for their Canadian operations. Most recently, Walshe was COO of Carat Canada. Walshe is replacing PAUL MAHER, who is leaving SMG to return to New Zealand to take over the management of the recently launched Starcom New Zealand office. Additionally, Starcom USA has named media director and director of television research SAM ARMANDO and media director SAM SUSSMAN as vice presidents of the company. Armando gauges the spectrum of national TV viewing activity, including programming, ratings, viewer engagement and complete analysis of marketplace conditions. Sussman serves as the agency's head sports negotiator for both broadcast and cable television. Sussman also manages national television investments across all dayparts on behalf of Miller Brewing Co.'s entire brand portfolio, and consults the Sun Microsystems business directly on its TV activities.

  • RACHEL RAPAPORT has joined Digitas as a vice president/associate director for American Express Charge Cards. Previously she was a partner/management supervisor at OgilvyOne.

  • MarketWatch.com has promoted DAN SILMORE to vice president of marketing. Silmore joined MarketWatch as director of marketing & public relations in 2000. He is responsible for public relations, corporate and consumer marketing, research, and promotion for MarketWatch Web properties and related online publications. Prior to joining MarketWatch, Silmore was director of consumer marketing at Medscape, Inc. (now part of WebMD), where he was responsible for marketing communications for CBS HealthWatch.

  • BILL SHAPIRO is joining the LIFE development team. He has been managing editor of Time Inc. Custom Publishing since joining the company in 2001. Shapiro came to Time Inc. from Jungle Interactive Media where he was editorial director. Earlier in his career, Shapiro served as executive editor of Details and Maxim.

  • Claria Corporation announced that D. REED FREEMAN, JR. has been named chief privacy officer and vice president of regulatory and legislative affairs for the company. Freeman, a partner in the Washington, D.C. law firm Collier Shannon Scott, PLLC, will spearhead Claria's online advertising privacy practices. He will also represent Claria's interests both in Washington and internationally, coordinating Claria's efforts on policy matters.

  • SKI & Company announced that SHAWN HACKMAN has been named managing director. Hackman will oversee the daily operations of the company's offices in Bethlehem, Pa., New York, and London. Hackman comes to SKI & Company from the World of Outlaws, where he oversaw television broadcast rights negotiations with the Outdoor Channel. As director of marketing for World of Outlaws, Hackman planned and implemented sales strategy for the series.

  • PAUL C. ATKINSON has been named vice president, business development, for the Newspaper National Network. Prior to NNN, Atkinson was senior vice president, advertising for The Wall Street Journal where he oversaw a global staff of 500 people.

  • BOB NATHANSON has joined 24/7 Real Media as director, technology sales representing the company's ad serving, analytics and behavioral targeting solutions. Nathanson comes to 24/7 Real Media from Viewpoint where he was regional sales director. Prior to that, he was publisher-Eastern region at Internet.com.

  • Hill, Holliday has named ALON SHOVAL executive vice president, creative director in the agency’s New York office. Most recently, he worked at Price McNabb, Charlotte, N.C., where he was executive creative director on Starbucks, Lowes, and Bojangles, among other accounts. Prior to this, Shoval spent two years at The Martin Agency.

  • 360 Youth, an Alloy Company, has hired DEANNE HOLZER as manager, business development. In her role, Deanne will oversee strategic business efforts and handle account management for 360 Youth's recruitment services. Prior to joining the company, Deanne was national account executive at Newsday and regional sales manager at IDG.

  • National Geographic Television & Film (NGT&F) has appointed SHANNON HEBERT to vice president, integrated marketing. Hebert will manage all marketing and sponsorship sales activities within NGT&F, including campaigns in support of National Geographic Specials, kids' programming and production, giant-screen and feature films. Most recently, Hebert was regional vice president of marketing and sales for Feld Entertainment, producers of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus and Disney on Ice.

  • JOSH FELDMAN has been promoted to the newly created position of sales manager, Adult Swim for Cartoon Network sales and marketing. Feldman is responsible for overseeing advertising sales of the Adult Swim programming block on Cartoon Network. Most recently, Feldman served as account executive for TBS and TNT.

  • JACK HARVEY has been appointed to the newly-created position of senior vice president, advertising strategy of TV Guide Consumer Electronics, a division of Gemstar-TV Guide International. Harvey will lead interactive advertising initiatives on behalf of the Company’s consumer electronic IPGs, which are distributed in nearly 40 countries throughout North America, Europe and Asia. He will be responsible for investigating, developing, and implementing worldwide advertising strategies to help drive Gemstar-TV Guide’s consumer electronics business. Most recently, Harvey was the vice president of business development for One to One Interactive, a Boston-based Internet marketing services company.

  • Scripps Networks named ADAM ROCKMORE as senior vice president of marketing and interactive commerce for Shop At Home. Rockmore will be responsible for developing the selling strategy and execution of SATHtv.com. He also will develop licensing opportunities for the Scripps Networks' brands, programs and talent.

  • BEN BUCHWALD was named VP, general sales manager and STEVE DIAMOND was named DR sales manager for the New York office of Katz Direct Marketing, a division of the Katz Television Group (KTVG). Buchwald will continue to oversee direct response business adding Paid and Religious Program Time Sales to his new responsibilities. In his new role, Diamond will continue to be involved in all aspects of the direct response short form business.

  • Interactive marketing agency ROKKAN has appointed MARIELLE ECHEVARRIA READING to the position of executive director of client services. Previously, Reading spent more than six years at Dimension Data (formerly Proxicom), where she managed the delivery of a broad range of Web solutions clients such as GE Plastics, Deutsche Bank, JPMorganChase, and HBO.

  • CRAIG CHAMBERS has joined First Marketing as vice president of business development for the technology division. In this role, he will consult with cable and telecommunications companies on their customer communications, retention and loyalty needs. Prior to joining First Marketing, Chambers was the founder and CEO of A la Carte Communications, LLC, a customer communications and marketing services firm in Centennial Colorado.

  • MATT WASSERLAUF, formerly VP sales of the FeedRoom, has formed Broadband Enterprises, LLC and will serve as its president and CEO. For its clients, Broadband Enterprises will buy, produce and distribute advertiser's programming across the growing broadband networks that capture more than 50 million viewers.
