  • SMG IP, the digital communications division of Starcom MediaVest Group, has announced that media director DAN BUCZACZER was elected a vice president at the company. Joining Starcom IP in 2000 as an associate media director, Buczaczer began operating out of San Francisco, providing media communications solutions for Excite @ Home, E! Networks and Peoplesoft. He relocated to Chicago’s IP operations in 2002 and has worked with clients such as Kellogg’s, Disney Studios, Coca-Cola and Showtime.

  • BBDO Worldwide has named ANDREW ROBERTSON (pictured) to succeed ALLEN ROSENSHINE as chief executive officer of the global company. Robertson is currently president, BBDO Worldwide and president, CEO of BBDO North America. Rosenshine will remain chairman of the BBDO Worldwide network. Robertson has been with BBDO Worldwide since 1995, serving as CEO of AMV BBDO, in London. In 2001, he joined BBDO North America as president, CEO and was elected to the worldwide board of directors. In 2002, he was named to the additional post of president, BBDO Worldwide.

  • Deutsch New York has named KRIS WEINER executive vice president, director of broadcast affairs. Elevated from senior vice president, director of broadcast affairs, Weiner oversees several divisions including celebrity, music, movie and television footage licensing, business management, talent, traffic, network and legal clearance.

  • Young & Rubicam Brands, Southern California has named ANGELA PIH senior vice president, brand team leader. In this newly created position, Pih is responsible for directing the agency’s Sony Electronics business, including the digital imaging, home entertainment, portable audio and VAIO PC categories.

  • AGENCYSACKS, the New York City-based advertising agency that specializes in luxury goods, has hired two account directors. AMY POFAHL joins the agency following a long tenure at Hill Holliday Connors Cosmopoulos and Altschiller & Company. HILARIE VIENER will work primarily on strategic initiatives. Specifically, she will connect agency clients with one another for their mutual benefit. She will also oversee the development of non-traditional business initiatives outside the typical purview of an ad agency.

  • SIMON TURNER has joined Wunderman as EVP, global client leader. Turner will oversee Wunderman’s global efforts in the fast-moving consumer goods sector. Most recently, Turner served as marketing director for Mars Incorporated, responsible for the global direction and coordination of brand strategies for such brands as M&Ms, Snickers, Pedigree, Whiskas and Uncle Ben’s.

  • WestWayne has promoted JUDY POPKY to senior vice president; ELIZABETH MCCUNE to associate media director; TONYA RINTYE to director of spot broadcast; and MELANIE HALEY to senior media planner.

  • The Advertising Council announced that JANET ROBINSON, chief operating officer and executive vice president, The New York Times Company, has been elected to Chair The Advertising Council. As Chair, she succeeds ANDREA ALSTRUP, corporate vice president, advertising, Johnson & Johnson, and will serve in the position for one year.

  • PETER JUREW has joined PEOPLE magazine as its new associate publisher/marketing. Jurew was most recently associate publisher/marketing at The New Yorker.

  • Meredith Corporation announced that BRIAN KIGHTLINGER has been named national advertising director of Better Homes and Gardens Special Interest Publications. In this position, he will be responsible for all advertising sales functions of the group. Most recently, Kightlinger served as director of the Travel Marketing Group at Meredith, where he managed the business group responsible for all travel-related advertising for publications, including Better Homes and Gardens, Country Home, Ladies’ Home Journal, Midwest Living, More and Traditional Home magazines.

  • JAN EMMELMAN-ZABLAH has been named sales manager with Univision Radio National Sales in San Francisco. In this position, Emmelman-Zablah will be a liaison for agencies, clients, and Hispanic formatted radio stations in the Northern California and Pacific Northwest territories. She will also develop new business by educating advertisers about the Hispanic marketplace.

  • Wasserman Media Group has appointed STEVE PHELPS to the newly-created position of executive vice president, sales. Phelps joins WMG directly from the National Football League where as VP, corporate sponsorship he handled sales and licensing for the company.

  • SKYLIST, an email service provider, has named LANA MCGILVRAY as vice president of sales and marketing and added to its sales, development and customer care teams. SKYLIST also named TONY AVERBECK, previously of Trilogy Software, as director of sales; NAEEM KAYANI, previously of America Online, as account manager; and IVOR CLARKE, previously of Microsoft, as director of development.

  • Endless Vacation has named DEBORAH (DEBI) KEAY as marketing director. Keay comes to the magazine from DK Diversified Marketing and Creative Services, a full-service marketing firm that she owned and operated for the past 11 years.

  • FindWhat.com has promoted KAREN YAGNESAK to vice president of marketing and communications. Yagnesak joined FindWhat.com as director of marketing and communications in April 2002, assuming responsibilities for the Company's marketing communications, public relations, advertising and event initiatives. She will continue her current roles within the FindWhat.com NetworkT and Private Label Division and ensure the coordination of marketing and communications across all of the Company's divisions.

  • Mailnet Services Inc., an Internet-based communications and marketing company, has added JULIE CARROLL as account manager. Carroll will be responsible for supporting and training consumers on MailnetExpress, Mailnet’s internet-based service that integrates direct mail, email, and fax messaging. Prior to joining Mailnet, she was an account executive for Consumer Health Association where she was responsible for generating new business on the regional and state level.

  • OmniPilot Software, Inc., a global provider of integrated management software, has named CHAD ROLL as chief operating officer, a new position. Roll will oversee day-to-day operations, create business development strategies, enhance client satisfaction and maximize the impact of new product launches. Prior to joining OmniPilot Software, Roll served as vice president, North American sales for Keynote Systems.

  • SCOTT MAC DUFFIE, formerly SVP, director of Zenith Media’s Out of Home Media department has formed By Design Media, Inc., where he will be serving as president.

  • Resolution Media appointed TONY BOMBACINO to the new position of vice president, marketing & client services. Bombacino will be responsible for overseeing Resolution's client and partner relationships while guiding the company's own marketing strategy. He previously served as the customer marketing manager at United Airlines where he was responsible for the Mileage Plus advertising and direct marketing programs across all channels.
