  • StarLink Worldwide has announced that its primary leadership, president SCOTT NESLUND and chief operating officer KEN ZASKY, have been named executive vice presidents of parent company Starcom MediaVest Group. Neslund joined Starcom USA in 1988 where he worked on Allstate, Maytag, BASF, Dean Witter, Kellogg, and United Airlines accounts. Neslund has also served Starcom in its Japan and Milan offices. Before becoming COO, Zasky served as senior vice president /new business development director. Prior to StarLink, he worked at Starcom as vice president/media director on the agency’s Miller Brewing Company AOR.

  • Draft Chicago has hired JELA TRIVUNOVIC as vice president, director of digital strategy, in its growing strategic planning group. Trivunovic will be responsible for leading strategic thinking within the digital group, working primarily with direct clients from the financial services category. Most recently, Trivunovic worked as an independent consultant in the digital arena. Prior to that, she served as director, professional services for Ingenio Inc. in San Francisco, an Internet solutions agency.

  • AGENCY.COM announced that THOMAS LANZETTA has been named chief operating officer and JULIE ROTH has been named president of the company's Web Development Group for North America. Lanzetta will be responsible for all aspects of worldwide operations for the company. All operations staff, including the IT and HR functions, will report directly to him. Roth will manage AGENCY.COM's four North American Web Development offices, and will continue to oversee business development and marketing for the company.

  • MATT SEILER has been named president of PHD, U.S. Seiler was most recently executive vice president at Omnicom Group. Prior to joining Omnicom in 2001, Seiler served as director of strategic planning at BBDO New York, where he worked from 1996 to 2000. Seiler will oversee PHD’s operations in New York as well as its offices in Chicago, St. Louis, and San Francisco.

  • The Wall Street Journal has appointed JUDY BARRY as vice president of marketing and business development. She replaces JIM DONOGHUE, who was recently named chief operating officer, financial information services, for Dow Jones Newswires. Barry will be responsible for helping to generate advertising revenue growth across Journal properties and advertiser categories.

  • Horizon Media announced that MARIN KATACIC has joined the firm as an account supervisor and both TANZA BOVE and DAVID BOSCH have been promoted to account supervisors. Katacic joins Horizon after spending the past three years doing freelance work at agencies such as MindShare, Ground Zero, Deutsch, and Kovel Fuller. Bove, who advances to account supervisor up from account executive, joined Horizon’s L.A. office in December 2002. Bosch, who also advances to account supervisor, up from account executive, joined Horizon in July 2003.

  • Gemstar-TV Guide International has named MARK J. FERNBERG as senior vice president of finance for TV Guide Publishing Group. In this role, Fernberg will be responsible for handling all financial operations of the group including accounting, internal reporting and strategic financial planning activities. Fernberg previously worked at Columbia House as a senior vice president of finance.

  • In Touch Weekly, announced that DAN WAKEFORD and MICHELLE LEE have been promoted to the positions of co-executive editors. Formerly In Touch Weekly’s news director and articles director, respectively, Wakeford and Lee will be based in Englewood Cliffs, N.J. Prior to joining the magazine, Wakeford worked in England as news editor of heat. Lee has held editorial positions at Glamour, CosmoGirl! and Mademoiselle.

  • Emerging Interest has hired ROB GRAHAM as director of marketing and customer service. Graham, formally the director of production services for Enliven and a freelance advertising developer through LearningCraft, will develop new product lines and marketing venues to be used in the tracking and measuring of e-mail campaigns.

  • Avenue A/Razorfish hired SCOTT PREACHER as client partner in charge of the Atlanta market. Preacher will be responsible for managing the operations of the Atlanta office and for expanding business opportunities in Georgia and the surrounding region. Preacher will work with other regional leaders to set the overall strategic direction of Avenue A/Razorfish.

  • STEVE CARBONE was promoted to president of Grey Direct NY, responsible for operations, financial management, account services, traffic, the studio, tech, and production. ADAM KOMACK was promoted to senior vice president, director of client services. RICHARD SHUBACK was promoted to executive vice president, executive creative director for Grey Direct NY. All three previously held similar positions at Grey E Marketing, which merged with Grey Direct NY in July. Additionally, DEREK CORREIA was promoted to executive vice president, director of marketing for Grey Direct's U.S. operations and HOLLY PAVLIKA was promoted to executive vice president, chief creative officer for Grey Direct USA.

  • Carat Americas announced that SAM RECENELLO, its executive vice president and chief financial officer, has been appointed to two fiscal positions within the American Association of Advertising Agencies (AAAA). He has been elected to the board of directors of the AAAA Insurance Company, which manages workers’ compensation benefits for all agency members of the AAAA, and has been appointed a member of the AAAA’s Investment and Audit Committee.

  • The Independent Film Channel (IFC) announced that three members of its programming team have been promoted to vice presidents. The executives are DEBBIE DEMONTREUX, vice president, development and production of original series and events; MICHAEL RUGGIERO, vice president, program scheduling and packaging; and ALISON PALMER BOURKE, vice president, development and production of original specials and series. All three previously served IFC as directors.

  • Creative Artists Agency (CAA) announced that MIKE WINDSOR, most recently CEO of OgilvyInteractive Worldwide, has joined CAA to head its marketing department. Windsor joined the Ogilvy agency in 1986, and departed in 1992 to become president and CEO of advertising agency Anderson & Lembke (now part of McCann-Erickson Worldwide Advertising).

  • Yahoo! En Español has promoted JOSE RIVERA-FONT to assistant general manager, North Latin America. Rivera-Font will be responsible for the development and management of the operations of Yahoo! En Español and Yahoo! México. Previously, Rivera-Font held the position of business development manager, where he was responsible for developing partnerships with brands and to help make the site a leading Spanish-language Internet portal.

  • T3 (The Think Tank), an integrated marketing services firm, has added NICOLE BINNICKER as an account coordinator. Prior to joining T3, Binnicker was an account service intern at GSD&M Advertising in Austin, Texas. While there, Binnicker assisted account services for the Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club accounts.

  • Entrepreneur Media hired CRAIG F. CULVER as regional sales manager in the New York office. Culver will be responsible for selling integrated advertising programs in the New England region for both Entrepreneur magazine and Entrepreneur.com. Most recently, Culver worked as a planning supervisor at DCA Advertising and Mindshare Inc., overseeing accounts for Canon's ISG Copier Division and IBM's ThinkPad.

  • Lopez Negrete Communications has tapped JIM IRVINE as senior director of media strategies. Irvine will work on all of the agency’s accounts including Bank of America, Wal-Mart, Tyson Foods, Visa U.S.A., Shell Oil Products U.S., Azteca Milling, Sonic Drive-Ins, Reliant Energy, and Microsoft. Most recently, Irvine served as chief media strategist for The Cartel Group, working on accounts such as the U.S. Army, JCPenney, Capital One, Leap Wireless, Tecate, Dickies, and Chili’s.

  • Zoom Media has hired DAVID MARCOU as director of corporate sales in the New York office. Most recently, he served as director of new business development at Kaleidoscope Marketing Group and in leadership sales and marketing roles for MarketSource.

  • Undertone Networks has named JOE LYONS, West Coast sales director. Lyons will oversee the company's new San Francisco sales office and guide development in the area.

  • RICK CORTEVILLE has joined Optimedia, San Francisco as vice president, media account director. He will be heading up the interactive media team for Hewlett Packard.

  • Fastclick has named CHAD PEPLINSKI as the director of media development. He will be responsible for developing and managing Fastclick's relationships with clients and partners as well as driving inventory expansion. Most recently, Peplinski served as manager of business development for ValueClick.

  • RAZOR magazine announced that TED PETERSEN, formerly advertising director, has been promoted to a new position, associate publisher. Prior to joining the magazine, Petersen's background includes executive positions at GQ, Talk, and in the NFL in New York City before joining RAZOR in 2002.

  • Forbes announced that NINA LA FRANCE has joined the company as group circulation director. Prior to joining Forbes, La France's publishing experience included more than 20 years as a senior executive at companies such as Crain Communications, Red Herring Communications, and Arizona Highways. At Forbes Custom Media division, there are two new additions: American Heritage associate publisher JENNIFER HOADLEY, who oversees ad sales for American Heritage and American Heritage of Invention & Technology; and MERRI LEE KINGSLY, publisher of Four Seasons, who also oversees ad sales for Show People magazine, a theater lifestyle publication produced in partnership with Clear Channel Entertainment.

  • EDWIN V. AVENT, executive vice president and chief operating officer of ad agency Twenty First Century Group has purchased Vanguarde Media’s Heart & Soul magazine. Avent will become president and CEO of Heart & Soul Enterprises and publisher of Heart & Soul magazine.

  • Boone/Oakley has hired PHIL SMITH as president. Previously, Smith was managing director of design agency Duffy New York.

  • DENISE BOSMANS has been named northeast regional account manager for Preprint Publishing.
