  • NICK JOHNSON, formerly senior vice president of business development has been promoted to senior vice president of business development and general manager of account strategy at Revenue Science. Johnson's role within the company will expand to include the management of Revenue Science's publisher sales teams and oversight of all publisher customer satisfaction issues. He will also continue to direct the company's revenue management team, supervise agency education, and drive partnerships with advertising agencies and advertisers.

  • DoubleClick has named KEITH JONES as managing director of Abacus Europe. Jones will support Abacus' European operations in the United Kingdom, Germany, and the newly opened French operations. He will also play a key role in launching the business into new markets; developing client acquisition and retention strategies; creating value propositions and product enhancements; and devising sales management and forecasting systems. Jones joined DoubleClick from D&B, where he was the head of European sales and marketing solutions.

  • Hill, Holliday has named SAMANTHA ADAMS as senior vice president of new business in the agency’s New York office. Adams was most recently director of marketing at Discovery Health Channel, where she provided strategic management to the network's programming and marketing initiatives. Prior to this, Adams was a consultant at Bain & Company in Boston, where she conducted analysis and developed strategies for Fortune 500 companies, particularly for those in the packaged goods and catalog retailing businesses.

  • Deutsch has named six vice presidents in its New York office. They are: JEREMY BERNSTEIN, vice president, director of information architecture, iDeutsch; TARA GILL, vice president, account director, business development; DIANA HONG, vice president, associate creative director, iDeutsch; MIKAELA MENNEN, vice president, director of production, iDeutsch; ANUSH PRABHU, vice president, data strategist, customer and data strategy; and MARIA TARIS, vice president, group director of licensing and clearance.

  • MARK SANDERS, formerly worldwide controller at WPP Group's Cohn & Wolfe/Young & Rubicam, has joined Interpublic Group’s Initiative as chief financial officer, North America. Prior to joining Initiative, Sanders served for five years as senior vice president, worldwide controller at Cohn & Wolfe/Young & Rubicam in New York. He succeeds CHRIS SAHOTA, who is transitioning to chief financial officer at Interpublic's Partnership Group – which includes Draft Inc. and Lowe & Partners Worldwide – in London.

  • SKYLIST, a self-service e-mail service provider, has named RICK WESTERVELT as president. Westervelt will be charged with overseeing day-to-day operations and providing strategic business direction. Westervelt joins SKYLIST from JPS Corporation, a Dallas-based manufacturing company.

  • FindWhat.Com has promoted BOB PROTHEROE to senior vice president of technology; KEN CRAGUN to vice president of finance; JAMES BURROWS to head of special projects; and hired TOM WILDE as vice president and general manager of the primary traffic division.

  • La Agencia de Orci & Asociados, has hired TONY STANOL as senior vice president of client services. In this newly created position, Stanol will oversee executive management for all agency service departments that interface with clients. Most recently at J. Walter Thompson, he ran the global Adams Confections account, creating advertising for Trident Gum and Halls Cough Drops around the world. Before this, he was at BBDO New York where he managed the Frito-Lay account internationally.

  • Publicis & Hal Riney announced that KAREN C. FRANCIS, formerly vice president of Ford Motor Company, has been named chairman and chief executive officer. Francis succeeds SCOTT MARSHALL, chairman and CEO, who retired from the agency in 2003. She began her career at Procter & Gamble marketing Crest toothpaste.

  • McCann Erickson promoted JOYCE KING THOMAS from her current position as executive creative director to chief creative officer of the agency’s New York office. Additionally, NINA DISESA who had the posts of chairman and chief creative officer remains chairman with expanded responsibilities. Thomas began her advertising career as a writer in the Midwest, before moving to New York for creative posts at Wells Rich Greene, then Young & Rubicam, and then to Wells Rich Greene again, where she rose to creative managing partner. DiSesa started in the ad industry at Cargill, Wilson, and Acree in Richmond, Va., moved to New York to work at Young & Rubicam and joined McCann Erickson – for the first time – as senior vice president and group creative director. In 1994, she returned to McCann as executive vice president and executive creative director and four years later was elevated to chairman, chief creative officer.

  • LISA JOSE FALES, an antitrust and consumer protection attorney, joins the advertising and marketing group of Venable LLP. Fales comes from Howrey Simon Arnold & White LLP in Washington D.C., where she was a partner in that firm’s Government Antitrust Group.

  • NetCreations has added MARK A. GALLIHER as account manager, new business, and GAETANO T. BAVARO as executive director, New England region sales division. Prior to joining NetCreations, Galliher was with CooperDirect Advertising and McCann-Erickson WorldGroup where he worked with clients such as The San Francisco Chronicle and MasterCard International. Most recently, Bavaro was senior vice president at Eclipse Direct Marketing where he was responsible for providing online direct marketing consulting and brokerage services for Fortune 100 clients.

  • JUDITH ORLOWSKI has been named vice president of program scheduling and acquisitions for Home & Garden Television. In this newly created position, Orlowski will manage all aspects of the HGTV program schedule, and facilitate all program acquisitions for the network. Prior to joining HGTV, Orlowski served as vice president of program planning and acquisitions for WE: Women's Entertainment in New York.

  • BOONE/OAKLEY has hired CANDICE TITLESTAD as account executive on the Visit Charlotte, Nascar, and Dialog Telecommunications accounts. Previously, Titlestad was an account executive at Doggett Advertising in Charlotte, N.C. handling the Outer Banks Apparel and Hendrick Automotive Group.

  • Maven Networks has made numerous hires recently, including: GIAN LOMBARDI, who joins Maven from DoubleClick. Lombardi will work with consumer packaged goods marketers and the agencies that support them. Prior to DoubleClick, Lombardi worked at Firefly and Wired Ventures. BRENT FRASER will focus on selling Maven-powered solutions to automotive marketers. Fraser worked for International group of @Home, where he led a team of sales executives in developing media partnerships between the Unites States and the @Home and Excite International operations in fifteen countries. JAY VANDERZEE was most recently at Advertising.com and will focus on agencies and marketers in New York and the New England area at Maven.

  • Hot Rod editor-in-chief DAVID FREIBURGER has been promoted to the role of editor-in-chief for both Hot Rod and Car Craft magazines. ROB KINNAN succeeds Freiburger as editor at Hot Rod. He was formerly the editorial director for ProMedia and editor of Race Pages.

  • Barry Group announced that RUSSELL BEDELL has joined the marketing firm as an account executive. He will oversee client services and handle new business.

  • Cyclades Corporation, a next-generation IT infrastructure management company, announced the appointment of CHARLIE WATERS as senior vice president for global marketing. Waters will focus on expanding Cyclades’ market presence and drive global revenues and growth. Prior to joining the company, he worked as an independent marketing and management consultant for a number of Silicon Valley firms, including Sun Microsystems, Castream, and Intergraph.

  • ANTHONY RUGGIERO has joined Gorilla Nation Media as director of East Coast sales. His primary responsibility will be to enhance Gorilla Nation Media’s exposure and sales on the East Coast. Prior to joining Gorilla Nation Media, Ruggiero was a regional sales director for Winstar Interactive Media, vice president of sales for FortuneCity.com, and director of sales and marketing for Virtual Communities.
