  • Home & Garden Television president BURTON JABLIN will be taking on expanded responsibilities at Scripps Networks, effective Jan. 3. In his expanded role as executive vice president of Scripps Networks, Jablin will work closely with the brand managers of Scripps’ portfolio of lifestyle cable networks, directing their strategies for continued growth. Jablin will continue to serve as president of HGTV.

  • HYO YEON has been named executive vice president, managing director of FCBi, the interactive unit of Foote Cone & Belding. Yeon comes to FCB from Studio Red, where she was the lead client service and strategy director serving the Coca Cola Company with non-traditional brand services. Prior to that, Yeon was executive vice president for strategic development at Razorfish.

  • Draft New York has hired JIM SANSEVERO as senior vice president, group account director for its Bank of America account. Sansevero will report to Liz Deutch, who along with Laurence Boschetto, heads up the Bank of America business. Sansevero joins Draft from Citigate Albert Frank and Citigate Communications where he served as senior managing director of North America, overseeing U.S. advertising, branding, and public relations activities for the London-based company. His core clientele included JP Morgan, Societe Generale, Deloitte Consulting, and CEMEX.

  • Draft has also promoted ROBERT ELMER, formerly vice president, account director, to senior vice president, account director in Draft's Account Services department. CYNTHIA VERRONE, formerly group research director, has been named senior vice president, group research director for Draft's Strategic Planning and Research group. Prior to joining Draft in November 2000, Elmer was a senior brand manager at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco in North Carolina. Verrone joined Draft in 1996 after serving as SVP, executive research director at then Backer Spielvogel Bates in New York. While there, Verrone managed the strategic planning function for several New York accounts, including then M&M/Mars, Xerox, Carter Wallace and AIG.

  • Additionally at Draft,MICHELLE JACKSON, director of client operations for account services, COLLEEN LONGSTREET, associate human resources director, and LIZ POOLE, creative director, have all been named VPs.

  • DR. USAMA FAYYAD has been named Yahoo!’s first chief data officer and senior vice president of the Strategic Data Solutions group. Fayyad will be responsible for Yahoo!'s overall data strategy, architecting Yahoo!'s data policies and systems, prioritizing data investments, and managing the Company's data processing infrastructure and analysis. Most recently, Fayyad co-founded and led the DMX Group, a data mining and data strategy consulting company.

  • Forbes has promoted JOHN WEISGERBER, formally publisher of American heritage and Forbes custom media, to vice president, corporate sales. He is responsible for aggregating the seven divisions and business units of Forbes into integrated marketing packages for advertisers. Prior to joining Forbes, Weisgerber served as associate publisher, Yahoo! Internet Life Magazine. The company has also hired RANDI ZUCKERBERG in the newly created position of account executive, corporate integration. She joins Forbes from Ogilvy and Mather, where she was an account executive on OPEN: The Small Business Network by American Express.

  • New Line Television has promoted JON KROLL to executive vice president, hired SYDNEY LEVIN as vice president of alternative programming, and promoted JARET KELLER to manager of East Coast TV development. Additionally, the company has hired development executive ERIN CRISTALL as manager of alternative programming. Kroll joined New Line Television in 2003 and has overseen the UPN series “Amish in the City,” as well as the recently completed CBS series “A Nightmare on Elm Street:Real Nightmares.” In her new role, Levin will both develop shows and serve as supervising producer on select projects.

  • AtomShockwave Corp. has named LEE UNIACKE as vice president, advertising sales. Uniacke will guide and grow the company’s advertising strategy for its entertainment Web sites, Shockwave.com and AtomFilms.com. As Group Publisher of the Ziff Davis Media Game Group, Uniacke oversaw the sales and marketing operations of Electronic Gaming Monthly, Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine, Computer Gaming World, GMR, and Xbox Nation.

  • Court TV has named RACHELLE SAVOIA manager of business and trade publicity. Savoia will be responsible for working with business and trade media spearheading publicity initiatives for the network's Affiliate Relations, Advertising Sales and Marketing departments. Savoia comes to Court TV from Goodman Media, where she was a senior account executive.

  • BILL BURKE has joined The VIA Group as a strategic advisor. Burke has held positions as president and CEO of The Weather Channel Companies, president of TBS Superstation, and CEO of news and information for Time Warner Digital Media. At VIA, Burke will work to develop new growth strategies, marketing innovations, and client relationships.

  • Klipmart Corporation has hired AJ VERNET as director of west coast sales operations. Vernet was formerly with United Virtualities and prior to that, Citysearch San Francisco.

  • Harrison Leifer DiMarco, The NOW Agency, has promoted DONNA BAHENA to the newly created position of vice president of account services. Bahena is responsible for coordinating agency services to all marketing and advertising accounts.

  • RILEY MCDONOUGH has joined WebMD Health as senior vice president, consumer markets. He joins WebMD from ESPN.com, where he was vice president, advertising sales since 2000.

  • JACQUELINE SCIORTINO has been named promotion director of AARP Publications. Sciortino was most recently group marketing director of Thomson Media’s Professional Services Group. She will work on strategic marketing initiatives, including the development of new sales tools, media kits and promotional programs.

  • DAN BIGMAN has joined the Forbes.com as managing editor. Bigman will oversee the day-to-day editorial operations of the site. Most recently, he spent six years at NYTimes.com, where he served as associate editor, and previously as business editor and producer.

  • Channel One News has promoted KATHY GOODMAN to executive vice president, school operations, formerly senior vice president, school operations. Goodman joined Channel One News in 1995 following 11 years at Whittle Communications, where she served as director, service support.

  • Turner Media Group, a Denver based media company with interests in cable, satellite, broadcast, and interactive TV, has added FRED BYERS and ERICA KRAUSE as senior account executives and STEPHEN CARMASSI as senior vice president of Ad Sales to its Turner Ad Group (TAG) sales force. Byers will focus on TAG's Spanish language inventory. Most recently, he was with Comcast Spotlight in Denver where he served as senior account executive. Krause is responsible for growing existing direct response accounts and developing new business. Previously, she was an account manager at WDWB-WB20 in Detroit where she placed local direct response advertising. Carmassi is responsible for advertising sales of TAG's portfolio of national network inventory. Most recently, he was vice president, advertising and programming sales for OpenTV/WINK Communications.

  • JOHN G. GARETT has been named president of HealthStartSM, a new division of MediZine, Inc. Garett joins the company from Bates Healthworld Advertising, where he served as president of its Orion Marketing Alliance Division.

  • Cendant Corporation's Travel Distribution Services division (TDS) has named CRAIG COBLENZ regional vice president, partner marketing. Prior to joining Cendant, Coblenz spent two years at InterActiveCorp where his primary focus was on creating marketing programs across the automotive and communications industries.

  • CMD has hired MEGHAN HEILY-ZONICH as an account executive, promoted DAWNA PETERSON to an account executive, and hired STACEY GIVENS and ANNA GRALINSKA as account managers in the account services department.

  • Active Interest Media has named VAL WEAVER editorial director of its Healthy Living Group, which includes flagship titles Vegetarian Times and Better Nutrition. Weaver, who executed and oversaw the Vegetarian Times relaunch, has also served as editor-in-chief of Remedy Magazine, founding managing editor and then editor-in-chief of Self Magazine, managing editor of Working Woman, and beauty/health editor of Harpers Bazaar.
