  • LIZ PERL was named vice president, publisher of Rodale Books. Perl comes to Rodale from Penguin Group (USA), where she worked since 1994, most recently as vice president, associate publisher.


  • MICHAEL HOUSTON has been named partner at kirshenbaum bond + partners. Houston heads kbp’s Corporate Development division, overseeing business development and corporate communications for kirshenbaum bond new york, kirshenbaum bond san francisco, Dotglu, LIME public relations + promotion, and The Media Kitchen. Houston joined kbp in October of 2002.


  • Starcom USA has appointed TRACEY SCHEPPACH to the newly created role of vice president/video innovation director. Her primary responsibility will be strategic and operational oversight of the agency’s Video Investment Group, charged with investing clients’ advertising dollars across a variety of emerging digital video content points. Prior to joining Starcom, Scheppach was vice president of programming and research at OpenTV, a Liberty Media Corporation subsidiary.


  • The Cinema Advertising Council has named MICHAEL KARAGOSIAN as chair of the national industry trade association’s technology committee. Karagosian is a principal of Karagosian MacCalla Partners, a business and technology consultancy for the entertainment industry. He also consults on digital cinema technology and policy issues for the National Association of Theatre Owners.


  • LISA QUAN has been promoted from manager to associate director of broadcast research at MAGNA Global.


  • MICHELLE SANDERS has been named northwest sales manager of THE WEEK. Sanders joins THE WEEK from Inc. and Fast Company magazines, where she was regional advertising manager.


  • ALFRED TOLLE joined Lycos as its chief executive officer, responsible for revenue, profit, and leading the management of all the Web sites within the Lycos portfolio of sites, sales, product development, and marketing. Tolle currently sits on the board of directors of Daum Communications Corporation, the parent company of Lycos Inc.


  • ELAINE HANEY has joined Bluestreak as senior vice president of products and services. Haney will lead product management for Bluestreak's integrated marketing platform including IonMail, IonAd, and IonSearch. Elaine will also oversee marketing services, including Bluestreak's newest expansion into search engine marketing. She had previously served as Switchboard's vice president of marketing and operations.


  • GABRIELLE DERUSSY has been named director of sales for TechTarget Security Media Group. She was previously director of site sales for TechTarget.


  • Mass Appeal has named JOANNE CAROLINO as associate publisher; GABRIEL SANCHEZ and QUYENZI PHAM as advertising account executives; and GREG HATHAWAY as advertising account executive.


  • CHERYL KOLL has been named director, affiliate marketing for Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel. Koll will work in tandem with the marketing and National Distribution & Services (ND&S) teams to design and implement strategic and creative affiliate marketing campaigns, including trade ads, direct mail pieces, and promotions.


  • MPG has named DAN RELTON as its new senior vice president, director of human resources. Relton was previously a senior vice president of human resources for GCI North America, part of Grey Worldwide, and served on the company’s North American leadership team.


  • WorldNow has promoted MANAVI MENON to senior vice president, network development and marketing. Menon will manage the execution of all content sponsorship initiatives at WorldNow and guide the development of WorldNow's Local Media Network.


  • BRUCE SILVERMAN has been tapped as chairman of Pocket Billboards.


  • ROBERT T. SCHNEIDER joins Davie-Brown Entertainment as executive vice president. Schneider will be responsible for overseeing some of the company's top accounts. Schneider joins DBE from Warner Bros., where he was senior vice president, corporate worldwide promotions.


  • WENDY EAGLE has been promoted to senior vice president, commercial operations for Discovery Networks U.S. In her new role, Eagle oversees all commercial and iMedia advertising operations for Discovery, including the domestic networks, Discovery.com and Discovery on Demand. She was previously vice president, commercial operations. In addition, Discovery Networks has promoted JOE PAGLINO to vice president, advertising sales to overseeall advertising sales efforts in the Detroit region. Previously, Paglino served as director, advertising sales for the Detroit region. Lastly, LORI YOUNG has been promoted to vice president, commercial operations, Discovery Networks U.S. In her new role, she will manage the teams responsible for the daily placement of commercials across Discovery’s U.S. networks in accordance with ad sales client agreements. She was most recently divisional director, commercial operations.


  • Stein Rogan + Partners returns to Chicago with an office focused on client service, business development and its burgeoning B2B search marketing, Web development and interactive marketing practice. The office will be led by JASON ABBATE, senior vice president of interactive services.


  • DAVID MCKILLOP has been promoted to vice president of production for Discovery Channel. A 20-year television veteran, McKillop most recently served as senior executive producer for Discovery Channel.


  • RYAN O'HARA has been named president of TV Guide Channel. O'Hara will oversee all aspects of TV Guide Channel and TV Guide SPOT, the company's new on-demand network, including programming, marketing, advertising sales, operations, business affairs, and finance. Since early 2004, he has been president of TVG Network, Gemstar-TV Guide's interactive horse racing television network.
