  • JULIO ARRIETA was named svp/managing partner of BravoWest, the West Coast division of The Bravo Group. Arrieta is responsible for building BravoWest's client base and leading management of West Coast accounts.


  • GLENN COLEMAN has been named deputy editor of Popular Science. Coleman joins Popular Science from Money magazine, where he served as assistant managing editor for more than six years.

  • JOE CUPANI, chief creative officer of Unit 7, has been elevated to the additional role of vice chairman, a new position. Prior to joining Unit 7, Cupani was chief creative officer at Wunderman, New York as well as Ogilvy One.


  • Publicis Events Worldwide has gone on a massive creative hiring spree. ERIK ULFERS was named chief creative officer; BEN C. ROTH was named executive creative director; LYLE SANDLER was hired as chief strategist; BROCK DANNER was hired as senior creative director; PETER PROVOST was named senior creative director; and LORI NADLER wasnamed director of production, design.


  • RICHARD BEAVEN has been named chief executive officer, North America, at Initiative. Beaven will be responsible for Initiative's offices in the United States and Canada and will oversee the agency's communications planning, buying, research and business operations. Most recently, he was executive vice president, managing director for MediaVest New York.


  • Premiere Radio Networks promoted BETH TEPPER from vice president marketing and promotions to senior vice president, and hired SARA MORGAN-MOSCOWITZ as senior vice president network marketing and client solutions and SUSAN MCDONALD as vice president Chicago regional sales manager.


  • Discovery Networks has promoted EVAN STERNSCHEIN to executive vice president, advertising sales and network strategies. Sternschein is responsible for negotiations with advertising clients and agencies for Discovery's 13 ad-supported U.S. channels and oversees the New York, Chicago and Atlanta sales teams. Most recently, Sternschein served as senior vice president, advertising sales and network strategy for Discovery Networks U.S.


  • PATRICIA COHEN has joined Energy BBDO as svp, client services director, responsible for leading the LaSalle Bank brand. Cohen joins from JWT where she was a senior partner, brand strategist.


  • KATE BARBERA has joined LIME public relations + promotions as account supervisor.  She was most recently a senior account manager at Janine Gordon Associates In addition, JENNA MARRONE has been promoted to account supervisor at LIME. She was previously senior account manager.


  • CORA BYRNE has joined kirshenbaum bond + partners as account director. She most recently worked at M&C Saatchi in London. 


  • The Republik has hired BRADY BONE as managing director of its new design division, Receptor, based in Charlotte, N.C.


  • TARIK SEDKY has joined Atmosphere BBDO as managing director, client services.  In this role, Sedky will oversee account management service and work directly with clients to develop powerful marketing campaigns and programs. He joins the agency from mcgarrybowen where he was director of client services and then group managing director.


  • MOKSHA FITZGIBBONS has returned to Complexas advertising director and EDGAR HERNANDEZ has joined the company as account director. Fitzgibbons previously served as eastern advertising director of Complex for three years before joining Stuff magazine as advertising director. Hernandezjoins Complex from Stuff magazine where he served as fashion account manager.


  • JOHN MICKLETHWAIT has been named editor of The Economist. His roles at The Economist have included editing the business section, setting up The Economist's office in Los Angeles, media correspondent, New York bureau chief and London-based US editor.


  • LEN WEINER has been named program director for 890 ESPN Boston and 1400 ESPN Lowell. Most recently, Weiner was program director for WGN-AM.


  • Best Lifemagazine has named LEN COSTA senior financial editor and STUART KEATING consumer products director. Costa will oversee the “Money + Success” section of the magazine. Keating will be responsible for serving the financial category.


  • BILL DUGAN was named vice president and general manager of Fuel Publishing, a new business unit at Pohly Company.


  • Wunderman New York has named SAPNA MEHTA senior planner on the Strategy & Insights; ERIC SALKIN was named associate planning director, working on Microsoft; JIHYUN “JI” CARTMAN joined the agency full-time as a senior art director, working on Pfizer and new business in the Interactive Department; Lastly, ERIC SCHULTE was named senior developer, working on AICPA.


  • GRETCHEN BEIDL has been named executive vice president, affiliate sales and marketing, Sundance Channel. Beidl will oversee all distribution and affiliate marketing activities. Most recently, Beidl was senior vice president affiliate sales for Oxygen Media.


  • Discovery Networks has promoted MICHAEL WEBER to vice president, advertising sales, to oversee all advertising efforts in the Western region. Prior to joining Discovery, Weber was account executive at CBS in Los Angeles.


  • DIC Entertainment (DIC) has named CYNTHIA MODDERS to the position of senior vice president of worldwide consumer products. Modders will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of licensing and merchandising programs for the company's entertainment and lifestyle brands. Additionally, NANCY FOWLER was promoted to senior vice president of business development, consumer products. She will oversee new initiatives and continue to manage the McDonald's brand licensing business.


  • PAUL J. CONLEY has joined American Greetings Properties (AGP) as vice president, digital media. Conley will manage outbound licensing for interactive categories such as mobile, video games and other digital platforms. Most recently, Conley served as vice president, online advertising for AG Interactive, the new media subsidiary of American Greetings.
