  • Mike Kohlbecker and Alexandra Sann

    CP+B LA elevated creative team Mike Kohlbecker and Alexandra Sann to creative directors. The pair will lead CP+B LA's efforts for A.1., Grey Poupon and Applebee's. Kohlbecker and Sann created last year's Emmy-nominated, One Show and Cannes Lion-winning "Spread Good Taste" campaign for Grey Poupon and the 2012 Old Navy back-to-school campaign that reunited the cast of "90210." Prior to joining CP+B, Sann spent time at TBWA\Chiat\Day NY, Amalgamated, Ogilvy NY and TBWA\Chiat\Day LA. Kohlbecker originally worked for three years at CP+B Boulder before leaving for a stint at TBWA\Chiat\Day LA, where he and Alexandra worked together on Visa, Call of Duty and Energizer.

    The Media Kitchen elevated Jonathan Kim to digital engineering director, up from senior search strategist. With clients becoming increasingly more involved in ad tech and caring what technology their agencies are using to manage their digital investments, Kim will evaluate TMK's tools and improve upon them to benefit clients as well as the agency. Digital trends that Kim will focus on include cross channel attribution, viewability, cross device attribution, and programmatic buying. In addition to his client responsibilities, Kim will also serve as the liaison between kbs+ Ventures and TMK -- connecting the future of technology with today's agency and brands. He will report to Brian Nadres, group director of search.

    Wieden+Kennedy elevated global co-executive creative director Colleen DeCourcy, to agency partner. DeCourcy joined Wieden+Kennedy in 2013 to partner with Dave Luhr and Mark Fitzloff on the W+K Global Management Team running W+K's eight independent offices. DeCourcy is the 11th agency partner at the agency, joining Dan Wieden, Dave Luhr, Mark Fitzloff, Susan Hoffman, Tom Blessington, Bill Davenport, John Jay, Neil Christie, Tony Davidson and Kim Papworth at the helm. In the 18 months since joining W+K, DeCourcy has worked throughout the global network. She has realigned existing digital developers and creative resources to create a new approach to technology development. She has also extended the creative department's capabilities beyond advertising, into both experience and product design. DeCourcy joined W+K in January 2013 from Socialistic, a social media content and design shop she founded, where she served as chief creative officer and CEO. Prior to starting her own company, DeCourcy served as TBWA Worldwide's first chief digital officer. "Over the last 18 months W+K has graciously taught me more than a few things about the making of good advertising, but this agency and this opportunity are so much bigger than that," commented DeCourcy. "Wieden, Luhr and Fitz have given me the space to be more than a 'digital person.' I am humbled and happily challenged by that. I'm equally excited by what the future holds for W+K."

    kbs+ Toronto has hired Ian Mackenzie as creative director. He joins the agency from Tribal DDB to work on kbs+'s Target, Bank of Montreal and Church & Dwight accounts. His work includes mass, digital, mobile, social and integrated campaigns for brands such as Honda, AB/InBev, Cadbury, Canadian Tire, Manulife Financial, Taco Bell and McDonald's. Mackenzie has earned more than 60 national and international awards for creativity and effectiveness, including Cannes Lions, One Show, Webby's, Applied Arts, Marketing and Cassies. Most recently, he was ranked #1 Copywriter in Canada in Strategy Magazine's 2014 Creative Report Card. Recent work includes being co-creator and senior writer of the "Our Food. Your Question." transparency platform for McDonald's.

    JWT named Amy Avery as head of analytics for North America, replacing Ira Helf, JWT’s North American chief analytics officer, who is retiring later this month. She joins the agency from Proximity BBDO, where she served as senior vice president, head of data and analytics, North America. Based in New York, Avery will lead the agency’s analytics practice and report to Robin Bardolia, chief strategy officer, JWT North America. Avery will also represent JWT in WPP’s Data Alliance, the Group’s data practice, which is responsible for helping brands and their agency partners connect diverse information sources, tools and human expertise. She has worked with brands such as AT&T Mobility, FedEx, Hormel, Starbucks, SC Johnson, Campbell’s, U.S. Marine Corps, FEMA, Kimberly-Clark and Merrill Lynch. JWT New York also promoted Paul Turzio to executive director of analytics, up from group director of analytics.

    Ralph Watson was named chief creative officer of CP+B Boulder. Most recently, he worked at BBDO as lead on the Bud Light account. Prior to that, Watson was associate partner at the Detroit office of Goodby Silverstein and Partners, overseeing the Chevrolet account. "Like many people in our business, I have always kept a really close eye on CP+B with a mixture of respect, admiration and at times, almost hate," said Watson. "Hate stemming from jealousy and a desire to do what they have done -- rewriting the rules of advertising to rules that we all now follow."

    CP+B promoted Evan Russack to the newly created role of executive director of digital. Based out of CP+B Boulder, Russack will lead digital, new business efforts and work to grow digital relationships with existing clients as well as identify new opportunities. He will report to Ivan Perez-Armendariz, CP+B's executive vice president/chief digital officer. Russack joined CP+B four years ago as account director on many of CP+B's clients, including Domino's Pizza and Microsoft. For Domino's, he led the digital side of the business, focusing on building out the online ordering experience across multiple platforms. For Microsoft, Russack was part of the team that launched the Xbox One with a global TV campaign last October. Most recently, he oversaw the launch of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" website and mobile app for NBC around the show's February premiere.

    Digital marketing agency TVGla hired Larry Davidson as director of technology, replacing Michael Daniel who has left the agency. Davidson will oversee the agency's technology group and expand its web development capabilities as well as its integrated socially-driven technology expertise. He will work across the agency's strategic, analytics and creative departments to support ideas with the right technology-driven solutions. Previously, Davidson held a variety of roles at digital agency Schematic including director of technology, director open platforms groups and senior software developer. TVGla clients include Fox Searchlight, Sony Pictures, Kia, Mattel, Pepsi International, Universal Pictures and Showtime.

    MEC hired Jason Lee as senior partner, senior director of digital for its Marriott International business. Lee will lead the development of the overall digital business and strategy across Marriott International's portfolio of brands. He joins the agency from OMD Los Angeles, where he served as group director, digital, overseeing digital media strategy and buying for brands such as SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau, eHarmony and Experian Consumer Services. Prior to that, Lee worked at Starcom Worldwide in Chicago where he supervised strategic digital planning and execution of SEM campaigns for companies like General Motors, Disney Studios and ESPN.

    Philadelphia-based Red Tettemer O'Connell + Partners (RTO+P) hired Ryan Scott as its first west coast vice president, group creative director. Scott will report to agency partners Steve Red and Steve O'Connell. He will be responsible for leading the west coast creative department and working with clients such as Planet Fitness, Under Armour, Wellen Surf and Coty Brands, to name a few. Scott joins the agency from Deutsch LA, where he was creative director, working on Volkswagen, Snapple, Dr Pepper and Dr Pepper TEN. While there, he contributed to multiple award-winning efforts including Volkswagen's "Rocketman" and "Feeling Carefree." Prior to Deutsch, Scott worked at WONGDOODY LA as senior copywriter, working with Full Tilt Poker, Health Net and Autodesk. Before that, he was copywriter at DDB, Los Angeles, working on Epson, Wells Fargo and Activision.
