  • Jason Cobbold
    Redscout
    Redscout has opened an office in London to serve its current client roster and increase its global profile. The agency tapped Jason Cobbold as managing director to lead the office. Cobbold will build and oversee all of the agency's operations in London and join Redscout's overall management team, working with the agency's offices in New York and San Francisco. In addition, he will help develop strategy and drive innovation efforts for Redscout's current clients including PepsiCo and Bacardi Limited. Cobbold will report to Jonah Disend, Founder and CEO of Redscout. Most recently, Cobbold was deputy managing director of Publicis London, where he was responsible for the turnaround strategy on several key accounts, including the launch of Dacia. Prior to that, he served as the global business director at Bartle Bogle Hegarty, where he led the global Johnnie Walker business across all regions. "Our belief has always been that the best way to change a consumer's perception of a brand is to change the way they experience it," said Jonah Disend, Founder and CEO of Redscout. "With over half of our business focused on global clients, we felt it was essential to open a London office to serve as a hub for our global work."     Ross Phernetton has rejoined the Proximity network as senior vice president, executive creative director of Barefoot Proximity in Cincinnati. Phernetton was previously creative director at BBDO and Proximity Minneapolis. In his new position, he will be responsible for the agency's creative output. Phernetton spent nearly 15 years at BBDO and Proximity Minneapolis, working on brands such as Hormel, Aviva Life Insurance and the Minnesota Vikings. He won a Gold Effie for his campaign for Formica. In August 2013, he joined the management team of Staff, a startup within the Samsung Accelerator. "At Proximity we believe in making brands more valuable to people and people more valuable to brands," said Chris Evans, CEO of Barefoot Proximity. "Having worked with Proximity, Ross understands this and is the perfect fit to drive our work to the next level."

    Planit hired Rich Reiter as creative director. In his new role, Reiter will oversee the agency's entire creative operations ranging from branding, creative concept development and execution, to multimedia, interactive and mobile design. He will work across all clients, including AGCO, DEWalt, Royal Building Products, Universal Music Group, Mally Beauty and Marriott International. Reiter joins Planit from Innocean in Chicago where he led all brand and retail creative for Hyundai Motor Company. Prior to Innocean, he managed creative services for McDonald's, Coors, Walgreens, Yum Brands, Beefeater Gin, Wrigley's, and Wilson Sports while working at Leo Burnett and Foote Cone Belding. Reiter's work has been recognized by One Show, Print Magazine and by CAAA Chicago American Advertising Awards for "Put the M Back in your Morning" campaign for McDonald's. "As Creative Director, Rich will build and foster a creative environment where ingenious ideas can be born and thrive," said Ed Callahan, creative strategist and co-founder of Planit.     Patrick McKay joined Cole & Weber United as executive creative director. McKay will lead the creative team and serve as an integral part of the agency management team. He joins the agency following a stretch of freelance positions with Mullen, Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Publicis, Mother and BBDO, among others. Prior to that, McKay was a creative director at Wieden & Kennedy London and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco. McKay has client experience across technology, retail, packaged goods, financial institutions and non-profit industries. He's created award-winning campaigns for clients like Starbucks, Microsoft, Milk, Viacom, Nokia, Comcast and Honda. "Pat is an awesome addition to the team," said Mike Doherty, president of CWU.     MDC-owned media agency, Assembly, named Paul Beck as executive vice president, director of strategic services, a new position. In this role, Beck will build and lead a strategy unit comprised of analytics, traditional media research, social media and holistic communications strategy. He will report to Jeff Brooks, chief commercial officer at Assembly. Beck initially will lead a team of 25, but the group is expected to double in size over the next 6-12 months. The team will be responsible for upstream work such as research/strategy, intellectual property, trends and insights, in addition to downstream work like reporting, measurement and optimization. Beck joins Assembly from Attention Partners, an MDC-owned social media agency, where he served as chief operating officer. While there he worked with clients including Mattel, Sport Authority, Target, Novartis, American Express, Morgan Stanley, Mead Johnson, Samsung and Dunkin Donuts, among others. Before Attention Partners, Beck was vice president of audiences & engagement at LBI & MRY where he oversaw the social media, search, paid media and analytics teams handling clients including Disney, CBS Films, Johnson & Johnson, McNeil Consumer Healthcare and Reckitt Benckiser. "I think you'll find that Paul's background is unique for the top strategy role at a media agency," Brooks said. "In fact, I love that he doesn't look like your typical media strategy or research guy because we're not your typical media agency. Paul is fascinated by connections and ultimately that's where great insights are found. We're fortunate to have him join our leadership team."
