  • Mark Krajan

    Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners (BSSP) promoted Mark Krajan to creative director. Krajan joined BSSP in 2011 as an associate creative director, working on campaigns for MINI, T-Mobile, Google and Priceline, to name a few. Prior to BSSP, Krajan was co-founder of SA-5 (now Teak), working on Logitech, Yahoo and SF Travel. Before that, he worked at McCann SF and TBWA/Chiat/Day LA. "Mark is a true creative leader who encourages great thinking from others," said John Butler, executive creative director at BSSP. "He's made significant contributions to the work moving our ideas across platforms and channels, and along with creative directors Tom Coates and Lyle Yetman, will continue to deliver great work for our clients."
  • Walt Barron
    McKinney
    McKinney promoted Walt Barron from head of account planning to chief strategy officer. In his new role, Barron will oversee creative strategy, research and analytics for the agency. As head of account planning, Barron led the team that won the ESPN SEC Network account, helped grow the agency's relationship with Samsung USA and was a contributor to numerous award-winning campaigns, including the Polaris' "Duel" and the Mizuno Running's "Mezamashii Run Project." In 2005, Barron joined McKinney from McGarrah Jessee in Austin, Texas, then left to lead account planning at Peter Mayer in New Orleans. He rejoined McKinney in 2012. "He is the most creatively-oriented strategist in the business," said Jonathan Cude, chief creative officer at McKinney. "He understands strategy is not an end in itself, but rather it's the work that helps our clients gain influence in the world."

    180 Amsterdam hired Melanie Portelli as client services director. She moves to Amsterdam from Now Advertising in London, where her role spanned running client business and new business development. Prior to that, she held business director, and new business director positions for Saatchi & Saatchi (both London and Sydney) and CHI & Partners. In her new role, Portelli will be working on current clients like PlayStation and new client wins yet to be announced. "What first attracted me to working with 180 Amsterdam? Simple," said Portelli. "The passion and talent of the people working here and an impressive body of work, which is only going to snowball in the next year. Amsterdam may be just a hop, skip and a jump from London but it is its own unique creative hub that stands its ground globally, and 180 is at the epicenter of that."

    MediaCom USA is expanding its content and branded entertainment capabilities on the West Coast with the addition of Shelby Craig, most recently a creative director for MediaCom Australia. The LA native will report to Steven Abraham, executive vice president and managing director of MediaCom. Shelby will work closely with New York-based Mark Fortner, head of innovation for MediaCom USA. Fortner and his team have creating award-winning content for clients such as Shell, Revlon and Audi. "I'm excited to be able to stay with MediaCom while returning home to LA," said Shelby. "Mark Fortner and his team in the US are already doing amazing work, and I can't wait to begin working with new clients and the amazing creative and production community in Southern California."

    McKinney New York hired Kerry Fitzmaurice as managing director. Fitzmaurice began her career working for the EPA in Washington, D.C., as a consultant to GE and working in the business consulting practice of Arthur Andersen. She then founded unlockPR, a public relations agency specializing in brand and communications strategy, celebrity relations and product placement. The agency was acquired by 72andSunny, where she became the director of earned media working on Activision, Target and Sonos. After that, Fitzmaurice joined Mother New York as director of new business and communications, where she helped secure the Burger King account. Most recently, she was chief marketing officer at KBS. "Kerry has built a successful business from the ground up," said Brad W. Brinegar, chairman and CEO of McKinney. "And she's driven and full of energy. These qualities made her our unanimous choice out of a very strong group of candidates."
