  • Thomas Funk and Eric Schoeffler

    Havas Worldwide Europe hired Thomas Funk as managing director of Europe, responsible for regional operations, with a focus on driving growth and expanding new services. Eric Schoeffler joined the agency as European executive creative director, overseeing creative for clients and working closely with creative leaders around the globe. Both will report to Chris Hirst, CEO of Havas Worldwide Europe, who joined the agency a few months ago from Grey London. Funk joins the agency from DDB Group Germany, where he served as CEO. Previously, Funk was a member of the global board of RAPP, based in London. Schoeffler spent the past 17 years at DDB, with the last five as chief creative officer of DDB Group Germany. He was also a member of the global creative council at DDB Worldwide. While at DDB Germany, Funk and Schoeffler managed the merger with its digital sister agency, Tribal. The pair worked for clients such as Volkswagen, Deutsche Telekom, Sony, Henkel and eBay. "I'm thrilled to have Thomas and Eric join our team," said Hirst. "Under their leadership, DDB Group Germany was transformed into an integrated agency with a strong creative reputation. Their vision and collaborative spirit will be integral to our continued success."

    Dieste promoted Ciro Sarmiento from executive creative director to chief creative officer. Dieste's previous chief creative officer Paco Olavarrieta, will remain with the agency as a "Craft-Maestro," working on specific creative projects. Sarmiento joined Dieste in 2013 as an executive creative director reporting to Olavarrieta. "Ciro is one of the most accomplished creative executives in our field, respected and admired by our team, our clients and praised by his industry peers," said said Greg Knipp, CEO of Dieste. "And we felt like he was ready to take the helm of chief creative officer, giving continuity to the great momentum we have as an agency." Added Olavarrieta: "When I invited Ciro to join the agency I knew that I had found a potential candidate to succeed me as Dieste's CCO. And for the last year Greg, Tony Dieste, Ciro and I worked together on a succession plan, giving Ciro all the tools and support needed for a harmonious and successful transition."

    TBWA\Chiat\Day New York added a bevy of creatives to the office, beginning with Michelle Spivak as creative director and Josh Yeston as associate creative director, and senior creatives Cecile Pimont, Pieyre-Alexandre Treuil, Liz Agans and Mike Schneberg. Spivak joined TBWA from Code + Theory, where she was a creative director working on Chandon, 7UP, Jack Daniel's Tennessee Fire, Mott's, Snapple, and Dr Pepper accounts. Pimont and Treuil joined the agency as senior copywriter and senior art director from AKQA in Portland, where they worked on the Nike business, including Nike ID and Nike Global Football. Agans and Schneberg join TBWA from McGarryBowen, where they worked together on Verizon, Intel and United Airlines accounts. Josh Yeston joined the agency as associate creative director. He has spent the last few years at RGA working on the Samsung and Volvo accounts. Lastly, the agency adds associate and junior creatives Mac Schwerin, Nick Choremi, Avi Steinbach, Gina Pido, Jeff Jablansky and Timothee Bayard later this month.

Werner has held senior advertising and business development positions at agency, media and sports companies, including, most recently, Taunton Interactive Media. Previously, she held senior sponsorship positions at Lifetime Fitness; Fast Company and Inc., Movieline/Hollywood Life; and at Mediacom, a division of Grey Advertising, where she worked on brands such as Diageo, Reebok, Mars Inc., GlaxoSmithKline, Sprint, Canon, Con Agra and Groupe Danone.
