Bayer Animal Health, maker of Advantage and K9 Advantix flea and tick products, is helping to fund and expand the operations of Adopt-a-Pet.com, a non-profit homeless pet adoption Web site.

Bayer and Adopt-a-Pet.com will be working to increase awareness of Adopt-a-Pet.com and its programs, with a specific goal of enlisting the help of veterinarians in promoting homeless pet adoption. Bayer joins Purina PetCare and North Shore Animal League America as the exclusive sponsors of Adopt-a-Pet.com.

The website works with almost 9,000 shelters nationwide who post their dogs, cats, and other adoptable pets on the Adopt-a-Pet.com Web site. Bayer HealthCare, a subsidiary of Bayer AG, is based in Leverkusen, Germany. --Tanya Irwin
