WWE's 'SummerSlam' Gets Major Promotional Push

One of WWE’s longtime big TV efforts, “SummerSlam,” the major pay-per-view wrestling/entertainment TV show, will gain some heavy promotional/
advertising push from PepsiCo’s Doritos and consumer products retailer Dollar General.

WWE fans can enter to win a SummerSlam viewing party hosted by WWE Legends Sgt. Slaughter and Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. As part of the national in-store promotion with Dollar General, fans who purchase two bags of Doritos tortilla chips in a single transaction will receive a 20-digit code at checkout that can be entered online.

Also, for a promotion built on the Doritos Jacked chips, there will be a contest -- the "WWE Fan Correspondent presented by Doritos Jacked" -- where someone will get a chance to interview WWE Superstars as a correspondent for the WWE app.

To enter, consumers must show their correspondent skills by creating a short video of themselves and a “bold question” they would ask a WWE Superstar. Those videos are to be uploaded to WWE's YouTube Channel. The potential “fan correspondents” will be found among WWE’s five “Monday Night Raw” events in Brooklyn, N.Y. on July 15; Austin, Texas on July 22; Laredo, Texas on July 23; Green Bay, Wis. on Aug. 5; and Sacramento, Calif. on Aug. 12.

Doritos is also a presenting sponsor of SummerSlam 2013.

WWE notes that the WWE app has been downloaded more than 6.5 million times since its debut last year. SummerSlam will be broadcast live on pay-per-view Sunday, Aug. 18 at 8 p.m. ET.
