Telemundo Prez Romano Exits

Senior executive changes at NBCUniversal continue -- this time at Telemundo.

Emilio Romano, president of NBCUniversal’s Spanish-language Telemundo -- who had oversight for Telemundo network, its 15 owned stations, news, sports and entertainment divisions, digital and international operations, sister cable network mun2, and its production studios -- has departed. He has been at the post since October 2011.

Before Romano, Lauren Zalaznick, executive vice president of NBCUniversal, recently resigned. In addition to a number of cable networks, she had previously overseen Telemundo. Changes started in February of this year, when much of her cable network responsibilities were shifted to Bonnie Hammer, chairman of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Group.

Then Joe Uva, former chief executive officer of Univision, came to NBCUniversal in April of this year, becoming chairman, Hispanic Enterprises and Content, Telemundo.

Since Uva’s arrival, Cesar Conde came on from Univision to oversee NBCUniversal’s international operations and business development as executive vice president. Conde reports to Steve Burke, chief executive officer of NBCUniversal.

Recently, Burke appointed Jeff Shell, chairman of Universal Filmed Entertainment, with Adam Fogelson departing as chairman of Universal Studios. Shell was replaced by Donna Langley, promoted to chairman of Universal Pictures. At the same time, Ron Meyer became vice chairman of NBCUniversal.
