Hertz Adds EVs To Fleet, Launches Video Series

Hertz is adding more electric vehicles  to its rental fleet and launching a new video series.

Both are in support of the rental car company’s goal to achieve a more sustainable future through reducing carbon emissions along with incurring lower energy prices.

Hertz, which claims to have the largest rental fleet of EVs in the United States, offers a range of models at various price points from General Motors, Tesla, Polestar, Kia and Hyundai.

The company is partnering with GM to offer even more EV rental options, like the Chevy Silverado pickup truck and Cadillac Lyriq SUV, nationally this fall.

Hertz intends to purchase 175,000 electric vehicles from General Motors over the next five years as part of its commitment to the next generation of automotive technology.

The new video series, “Are We There Yet?,” is hosted by Hertz CEO Stephen Scherr and explores the possibilities of an electric future.

In the style of “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,” Scherr will embark on EV road trips with a range of guests. His first stop is Detroit to speak with GM CEO Mary Barra.

The new video series, which was conceptualized in-house at Hertz, launched Aug. 16 on Hertz’s YouTube channel and other social platforms.

The 5-minute long video shows Barra and Scherr driving a Cadillac Lyriq through the iconic GM technical campus in suburban Detroit, discussing the latest in electric vehicle innovation and their favorite driving playlists.

Hertz has a social paid amplification plan in addition to owned channel distribution. The first episode will be promoted over the next four to six weeks.
