Audi Offers Vehicle Personalization, Access To Tesla Superchargers

Audi of America is giving customers more options to personalize their vehicle screens, much as users customize their computer desktop or cell phone screen.

Audi Themes is a new feature that allows Audi owners to update the appearance of their vehicle’s interior with display wallpapers. The specially curated content aims to transform the interior into a personal expression with travel landscapes, animals, and shapes, as well as cinema and sports.

Seasonal images for the holiday season are also available. Additional image offerings like movie characters and other themes are expected to become available in the future, according to the automaker.

Customers can also have available in-vehicle ambient lighting selections automatically set to complement the image when the vehicle is equipped with the optional ambient light package.

Audi Themes are available for purchase in the myAudi Marketplace on the myAudi smartphone app for a one-time cost with prices starting from $12.99 plus taxes and fees. Audi Themes are specific to the vehicle for which they are purchased and are not transferable to another user or another vehicle.

The new Audi App Store allows customers to access their favorite apps directly via the vehicle touch screen. The integrated and ever-expanding store has apps across music, video, gaming, navigation, parking, charging, productivity, weather and news.

In other news, Audi joins sibling companies Volkswagen, Porsche and Scout in being the latest automakers to begin implementing the North American Charging Standard in future electric vehicles starting in 2025.

Other automakers who have already announced similar plans include Subaru, Toyota, Lexus, BMW, Rolls Royce, Mini, Volvo, Ford, General Motors, Nissan, Polestar, Rivian and Mercedes-Benz.

Volkswagen, Porsche, and Audi are exploring adapter solutions for existing vehicles to access the Tesla Supercharger network, starting in 2025. Scout Motors customers will be able to access the Tesla network once its vehicles go on sale.

The agreement will expand customer charging access to more than 15,000 Tesla Superchargers. This is in addition to the more than 3,800 DC fast charging outlets currently in operation by Electrify America and Electrify Canada.

Electrify America has already announced it will work to offer the NACS connector at charging stations by 2025 in North America, as well as continuing to support CCS.
